1. An assessment is a way to check how much someone knows or how well they can do something.

Example:

A teacher might ask students to write a short story as an assessment to see how well they can write and use their imagination.

 

2.            A distraction is something that takes your attention away from what you're trying to focus on.

Example:

If you're trying to do your homework but your phone keeps buzzing with messages, the phone is a distraction.

 

 

 

3.            A superstition is a belief that certain actions or objects can bring good or bad luck, even though there is no real proof. Example:

Some people believe that breaking a mirror will give them seven years of bad luck. This is a superstition.

 

4.            To boost means to make something stronger, better, or more effective.

Example:

Eating healthy food and getting enough sleep can boost your energy, helping you feel more awake during the day.

 

 

 

 

5.            To cheat means to act unfairly or dishonestly to gain an advantage.

Example:

If a student looks at someone else's answers during a test, they are cheating to get a better score.

 

6.            To reckon means to think or believe something is true or likely.

Example:

I reckon it will rain tomorrow because the sky is cloudy.

 

 

 

7.            To pace means to walk back and forth, usually because you're thinking or feeling nervous.

Example:

Before his big presentation, John started pacing around the room because he was feeling anxious.

 

8.            Average means the middle level or typical amount of something, not too high or too low.

Example:

If you add three test scores—80, 85, and 90—the average score is 85, which is in the middle of the three.

 

 

 

 

9.            Exhausted means very tired, with no energy left. Example:

After running a marathon, she was so exhausted that she could barely walk.

 

10.    To steer clear (of) means to avoid something or someone. Example:

He decided to steer clear of the playground because there was a big argument happening there.
