GENERATION GAP

Objectives: -to talk about children-parents relationships; -to investigate the reasons of generation gap; -to find some solutions of parents-teenagers problems.

Socrates(469-399 BC), on adolescents: Children nowadays just love the easy life. They are bad mannered, show contempt for authority, and disrespect for their elders. They answer back to their parents and they drive their teachers mad. Hesiod(8-th Century BC)I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today. When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but today’s youngsters have no respect.

Teenagers and their parents

Teenagers have an easy life nowadays.

Let’s have a look at our school program and textbooks.

Today’s teenagers are lazier. They don’t do household chores. They spend too much time in front of their computers.

Young people are less responsible nowadays

Young people are too concerned about looking good

Yes, it’s true. The media makes us worry about appearance nowadays

Young people have more money now

Maybe we have more money but we have higher prices

Teenagers don’t want to work, they think that money grows in the trees

It’s almost impossible for teenagers to find a job in our country

Teenagers have lots of modern gadgets

It’s true, but these things don’t always make life easier or make us happier

Teenagers listen to a loud music, wear inappropriate clothes, have all their bodies pierced and tattooed

Children very often rebel against discipline and family values, they show their protest and independence, try to establish their identity

You never know. Or fully realize. How sweet and kind your parents are,How gentle and how wise. You simply take for granted. From day to passing day,Each sacrifice they make for you. In their own loving way.
