English lesson in the 6th grade “Character traits”

Topic: Character traits

Purpose: to improve the skills of using lexical units on the topic "Human character"; develop reading and speaking skills on the topic; to bring up the right attitude to human relations, as well as the general culture of students.

Type of lesson: repetition of the studied topic.

Equipment: textbook O. Karpyuk "English-6", workbook, drawings, multimedia board, presentation, handouts.

Course of the lesson:

1. Organizational moment.
2. Speech warm-up.
3. Message of the topic and purpose of the lesson.
4. Repetition of learned vocabulary by topic with the help of a presentation: shy, hard-working, brave, helpful, kind, clever, friendly, clumsy, romantic, lazy, serious, patient, rude, worried, naughty, polite.
5. Development of reading skills:

Hello! My name is Ted. I live in London. I am 11. I am a pupil of the sixth form. My relatives say that I very curious and friendly person. This is my mum Melissa. She has got beautiful blue eyes. She is very kind and patient. This is my dad. His name is Robert. He is a doctor. He is very clever and hard-working person. This is my sister Linda. She is 16. She is a pupil of the tenth form. I think that she is romantic, but a bit selfish person. This is my granny Liz. I love her very much. She is very polite and helpful person. This is my grandpa. His name is Edward. He is my best friend. He is calm and very interesting person.

Reading comprehension check. Students write out the character traits of family members from the text.

6. Development of speaking skills. Students name the character traits of fairy-tale heroes - Harry Potter, Santa Claus, Superman, Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Shrek is...
7. "Positive or negative" exercise. The teacher reads character traits, and students show a cheerful emoticon for positive traits, or a sad one for negative traits.
8. Development of dialogical speech skills. Students ask each other questions about their classmates: What is he (she) like?
9. Homework message - page 30 (repeat character traits).
10. Lesson results.
