Spring is coming
LEVEL – elementary
Teacher:
Good morning, dear children, teachers and parents. We have come to this party to talk about our favorite season – spring. Spring has come and brought us beautiful flowers, sunny weather and merry holidays of the year. The biggest holiday - Easter – is also celebrated in spring. And we all like Mother’s Day.
GIRL: Pass the happy news along
Listen to the birds’ sweet sings.
Spring is coming, winter’s gone!
Pass the happy news along.
Boy: The birds are returning.
Their songs are filling the air.
And meadows are smiling
With blossoms so fair.
GIRL: In the spring, in the spring
Sweet and fresh is everything
April weather.
Rain and sunshine both together.
In the spring, in the spring
Sweet and fresh is everything.
SPRING: I am spring. People call me the season of hope and happiness. When I come, flowers begin to grow, green leaves appear on the trees. Birds come from the South and begin to build their nests. Then they feed their little ones. Children help their fathers and mothers to plant trees and flowers. The sky is blue. The first May rains wash the Earth and everything looks so bright.
MARCH: March wind goes out to play.
He will have such fun today!
When the boys and girls come out
He blows their caps and hats about.
APRIL: Rain, rain, rain, April rain.
You are feeding seed and grain,
You are raising plants and crops
With your gaily sparkling drops.
All the little birds are gay.
They hop about and sing and say:
“Winter days are far away.
Welcome, welcome, merry May.”
SPRING: Oh, my dear friends, we’ve forgotten about spring holidays, haven’t we?
Who are you?
BUNNY: I’m an Easter Bunny! Easter comes in spring. Spring also means the beginning of new life. People paint eggs for Easter, because an egg is a symbol of life. Let us paint Easter eggs. Take your brush, my kids.
This one is red. That one is yellow. This is orange. And this is green.
Now let us dance and let us sing. Happy Easter!
Spring has come again
The sun is all aglow
It’s melting all the snow,
For spring has come again,
Spring has come again.
The trees are dressed in green
And pussy willows are seen,
For spring has come again.
I am going to take
The beauty of the spring
And with it I will make
A pretty Easter egg.
Spring has come again.
BUNNY: And now let’s play! This game is called “The Easter Krashanka” For this game we need 4 persons: 2 boys and 2 girls. Any volunteers? Now, take this krashanks and these wooden spoons. You must run to the finish line. You must do it like this! It is not easy.
One more game. “Pass the surprise”. We all sit in a circle and pass the surprise to the person next to you. There is music playing while we are doing this. When music stops, the person who keeps the parcel is the winner. So you unwrap the parcel and show us the surprise.
SPRING: Dear guests! In spring we celebrate one more great holiday – Mother’s Day. We love our mothers and devote them this part of our party.
SONG Who said me “Good night”,
When I was a child? – my mother.
Who dressed my dolls in clothes so gay
And showed me often how to play?
- My mother.
Who ran to help me when I fell
And who could funny stories tell?
Who sits at my head when I am in bed?
Who is so nice, who is so kind,
Another so dear you’ll never find?
GIRL: SPRING CLEANING.
Sweeping, sweeping,
We must do the sweeping,
We must get it clean,
No dirt must be seen,
While mother is still sleeping.
Dusting, dusting Polishing, polishing,
We must do the dusting We must do the polishing
No specks must be seen We must get a shine
We must get it clean, A beautiful shine,
While mother is still sleeping While mother is still sleeping.
Now the house is clean and bright,
Not a speck of dirt in sight.
We have cleaned it all away.
No more work until another day.
Wake up, wake up, mother, do.
Come and see what we’ve done for you.

HOW WE KEPT MOTHER’S DAY.
THE CAST: Mother, Father< Children: Mary, Anne, Will
Act 1
A room. Anne and Mary are sitting at the table, playing chess. Will is sitting on the chair. He is busy with his fishing-rod. Father comes into the room.
FATHER: Hello, children!
Children: Hello, Dad!
FATHER: You know, Mother’s Day is coming. I’ve got a brilliant idea: let’s have a special celebration on that day. Your mother has done so much for us. I’ll take a day off at my office.
WILL: It’s a good idea. Let’s make a great day, a holiday for all the family just like Christmas.
ANNE: Oh, Mary, we’ll dress in our best clothes for such a holiday and buy new hats for this day.
MARY: What do you think: shall we buy a new hat for Mum too?
ANNE: Oh, no, she really likes her old hat, besides it’s awfully becoming to her!
FATHER: I’m going to take the car and take Mother for a beautiful trip away into the countryside. It will be a surprise for her. She is busy in the house nearly all the time.
WILL: As for me, I’ll offer to take mum fishing. I’ve just got a new fishing-rod.
FATHER: That’s right. I agree with you.
Act 2
The next day. The same room. Mother is busy, cutting up and packing sandwiches. The girls are standing in front of the mirror, trying on their new hats. Will is coming into the room.
WILL: Mum, cut up some sandwiches, please, in case we get hungry.
MOTHER: Everything is ready. Here you are. (She gives him a basket with their lunch.)
FATHER: (entering the room) The car is here, but there isn’t enough room for us all. Who wants to stay at home and help the maid to prepare dinner?
ANNE: Mary and I can stay at home, if Mum only says a word.
MARY: Yes, of course, but it’s awful to stay at home on a lovely day like this, having our new hats.
MOTHER: No, girls. You should be in fresh air.
WILL: I can stay at home, but I’m afraid I won’t be of any use in getting the dinner.
MOTHER: I agree with you.
FATHER: As for me, I have not had a real holiday for three years! But never mind! Go ahead, be happy and have a nice day. I will stay at home!
MOTHER: Of course, you won’t! You should have a rest. I think, I’ll stay at home and cook the dinner.
MARY: Oh, yes, you will have a lovely restful day round the house and get dinner at the same time.
FATHER: By the way, it’s cool and windy outdoors. I’m afraid you might catch a cold if you go.
CHILDREN: (ALL TOGETHER) Bye, Mum! See you in the afternoon!
MOTHER: Bye! Have a good time!
Act 3.
The same room. Mother is standing near the table.
MOTHER: Oh, I have a lot of work to do. I have to prepare dinner and to lay the table. (She puts on her apron, then leaves the room. Soon she comes back, carrying a tray with plates and glasses. She lays the table.) It’s 5 o’clock and they haven’t come yet.
(At this moment all the family enter the room. The girls have some flowers in their hands. Will is carrying his fishing-rod and a bucket.)
CHILDREN: Mum, here we are!
MOTHER: You are so late! How was the journey?
ANN: It was great! The weather was wonderful.
MARY: We met our friends and showed our new hats to them.
WILL: And I’ve caught a lot of fish. Look! (He shows the bucket)
FATHER: And what about dinner? Is it ready? We are very hungry.
MOTHER: Yes, everything is ready. Sit down and help yourselves.
(The family is sitting at the dinner table, passing dishes to each other, talking and eating)
AFTER DINNER:
ANN: Thank you, Mum. The dinner was great.
FATHER: It was wonderful: roast turkey and all sorts of things like on Christmas Day.
MARY: Mum, shall we help you to wash up?
MOTHER: No, thank you. I’ll wash the dishes myself.
WILL: Oh, it’s time to go to bed. I’m so tired. How did you like your holiday, Mum?
MOTHER: Thanks, I have never had such a holiday. It was the most wonderful day in my life.

My Mother.
