• розширити знання дітей про, звичаї та традиції святкування Дня  Валентина  в Україні та Англії;
• виховувати любов до України та поважне ставлення до культур англомовних країн;
• формувати високу українську культурологічну компетентність;
• активізувати лексичний матеріал з теми у мовленні, використовуючи граматичні і мовні структури;
• розширювати пізнавальну діяльність, потребу в самопізнанні, самовдосконаленні та самореалізації учнів;
• спонукати до мотивації вивчення англійської мови   учнями.

Матеріали для роботи:  напис St. Valentine’s Day, картки до дня Святого Валентина, макет серця, шаблони серця у вигляді пазлу, лист від Купідона, відеозаписи.

1. INTRODUCTION

1. Warming-up

Teacher: Good morning, dear children! I am glad to see you today! How are you today? Let’s start our lesson, but at first we must guess the topic of our lesson. Let’s see a short video and then guess.

2. Pre-activity

Teacher: Every year on the 14^th of February people celebrate a very beautiful and lovely holiday «Valentine’s day» in many countries.  Today we’ll try to speak about this day. We will talk not only about human love, but also about love for our native country – Ukraine! We will repeat words which we learn, make a “Heart” of your class and fill our hearts with love.

On Valentine’s day people wish

good things for each other and I want to

wish you a very happy Valentine’s day,

a true friendship and I wish your hearts

always be filled with love ! What you can

wish for me? Thanks, super! Look, we

have a guest! Who’s that?  It’s a cupid !

Cupid brought us a letter ! Let’s read!

1.          MAIN PART

Teacher: Do you know the symbols of St. Valentine’s Day?  Look at the board and let’s repeat them.

We have already filled our hearts with love. Here is our first heart

The 2 task. «Guess the missing words»

Teacher: We must  guess the missing words about this day in the text about St. Valentine's Day:                                                                      

 Valentine’s Day is a holiday, which is celebrated on … (14th February). This is the day of … (love). People send to each other … (Valentine’s card). Sometimes a … (dove) brings the letters. People also give each other presents like … (candies) or … (flowers), especially … (roses), because they are  the symbol of love.

This holiday has become so popular that nowadays we can give our love to everyone we love.  It can be… (parents, friends and even pets). On this day, love is expressed not only for relatives and pets, but also for the native land. Our native land is … (Ukraine). The heart of Ukraine is (Ukrainians).  Love for the native land begins with the (family). Love for native Ukrainian culture and  traditions are formed (at school).  Schools hearts are   (children). It means that children are heart of… (Ukraine) and Ukraine will always be in our (hearts).

Teacher:I have pieces of  heart. You need to make a “Heart” of your

class. Please, take a piece of heart. Then come to me and glue your

                       piece on the heart pattern.  ( Учитель має два

                       шаблони  серця у вигляді пазлу . На першому

                       шаблоні  кожен шматочок  пазлу пронумерований. Інший

                         шаблон у формі серця нумерується в тій же послідовності, що і

                        попередній, а потім вирізається  і ріжеться на шматочки.

                        Кожен з дітей підходить і клеїть свій шматочок відповідно до нумерації.)

 I have a big heart. This heart is the heart of Ukraine. Our

 school on it is the heart of our country. The heart of the

 school is the heart of all students' classes. Let’s attach the

 heart of your class to the heart of Ukraine! (Учитель має макет великого серця, на якому зображене дерево з гілками  та  українською символікою. Кожен

клас кріпить серце свого класу гілки та зазначає клас)

Teacher: Now we must tell thank you to cupid for his gift and give him a present. Now you see hearts. We will give him hearts. You must choose one heart about yourself. Red heart – Like –You like our lesson Green heart – Don’t like – You don’t like our lesson Yellow heart – so / so – You don’t understand our lesson.
