Unit 18. The Weather

Topic: The Weather

Objectives:

•           memorize new vocabulary and use them in speech
•           identify specific information from the text
•           learn about different kinds of weather

Teachers aims:

- to improve students’ reading and speaking skills

- to memorize, understand and use new vocabulary

- to speak about favourite season and the weather.

Outcomes. Students will be able to:

•           recognize necessary information from the conversation
•           ask and answer the questions related to the topic
•           remember new vocabulary and talk about weather

Equipment: Student’s book “Prepare” by Joanna Kosta & Melanie Williams, Workbook , laptop

                                                      Procedure

I.Greeting.

What sun are you today? Look and say whether it’s true for you.

II.Warm up

Read the idioms and explain them.

1)Feel under the weather.          A) raining very hard

2) A storm in a tea cup.               B) feel unwell or ill.

3)Raining cats and dogs.           C) unnecessary anger or worry about something.

III.Introducing  the aim of the lesson.

Can you predict the topic of the lesson?

       IV.Main part

1.Brainstorm. Mind map „Weather „

2.Pre-reading comprehension

Watch the video and match the words to pictures (SB ex.1, p.106)

3. While reading

Answer the questions (SB p.106)

Read the messages and match them to the questions (SB ex.3, p.106)

4. Post reading

-Find in the text who says the words (SB ex..4, p.107)

-Can you tell what’s your favourite season and weather? What can you do in such  weather?

-Make a short dialogue with your partner.

5. Physical warm up.
