Мета:
Розвивати ключові компетентності (спілкування англійською мовою, інформаційна, соціальна та громадянська, ініціативність), довготривалу пам’ять, увагу, уяву, та наскрізні вміння (уміння самостійно планувати мовний вчинок, вміння навчальної співпраці при виконанні колективних проектів, вміння доносити думку, творчість, критичне мислення).
Навчити учнів розповідати про частини Великобританії. Вчити пошуку необхідної інформації в процесі ознайомлювального читання, вчити узагальнювати та використовувати на практиці отриману інформацію з теми. Практикувати у вживанні граматичних часів дієслова (the Present Simple and Perfect Tenses).
Розширювати знання учнів про країну, мова якої вивчається.
Виховувати культуру спілкування, повагу до традицій іншого народу.
Обладнання: карта Великобританії, прапори та символи частин Великобританії, портрет Р. Бернса, аудіозапис вірша Р. Бернса “My Heart’s in the Highlands”, роздатковий матеріал, мультимедійна презентація.

Yes, he was the Scottish and wrote about Scotland. This is a part of the country we are going to speak about. Can you guess the topic of our lesson? (Expected answer: Great Britain). Can you name other 3 parts? (Expected answer: England, Wales, Northern Ireland). The best way to get to know other country is to visit it. So I propose you to make an imaginary tour to Great Britain.

It is the birthday of Robert Burns. During the festival people play pipe music, wear kilts and recite Burn’s poems.

It is a country of lakes and mountains. The second highest mountain in Great Britain Snowdon is situated here. The Welsh are famous for their singing ability. They like to speak Welsh, to sing songs in Welsh. St David is the Patron Saint of Wales. On St David’s Day people wear a leek (зелена цибуля-порей) or a daffodil.
