Asking the Way

     

Тема:  Гуляючи містом.

Підтема:  Як запитати дорогу.

Мета :

 1. Освітня: ознайомити учнів з новою лексикою теми, активізувати ії.

2. Практична: оволодіти знаннями та особливостями спілкування в незнайомому місті, на екскурсії за кордоном. Вміти уточнити інформацію.

3. Розвиваюча: розвивати мовну здогадку, творче мислення, включати нові лексичні одиниці в мовленнєву ситуацію, розвивати навички діалогічного мовлення, а також техніку читання та аудіювання.

4. Виховна: виховувати повагу до розмовної мови різних країн, вивчити правила спілкування з незнайомими людьми.

Обладнання: дошка, ноутбук, телевізор, картки з діалогами.

Хід заняття :

1. Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення.

1. Привітання.

T:  Good afternoon, dear students!

Ps: Good afternoon!

T:  Glad to see you!

2. Повідомлення теми та мети.

T:  Today we are going to speak about asking the way and places in town.

1. Подання діалогу для прослуховування та читання.

1. Pre-Listening Activity. Етап підготовки. Подання лексичного матеріалу.

T: First of all I’d like to explain you all the unknown words from the text you are going to listen to.

Directions	Як пояснити дорогу
It takes me (10 minutes, half an hour) to get…	Щоб дістатися до… мені знадобиться (10 хв., півгодини).
Go (walk) down/ up/ along/ across/ past/ straight (on).	Ідіть вниз/ вгору/ вздовж/ через/ повз/ прямо.
Turn to the right/ left.	Поверніть праворуч/ ліворуч.
Take the first/ second turning to the right/ left	Перший/ другий поворот направо/ наліво.
Can/ could you tell me the way to…?	Чи можете Ви сказати мені, як пройти до
How do/ can I get to…?	Як мені дістатися до…?

Asking Directions

Marilyn:  Excuse me. Could you tell me which way Dobson’s bookstore is?

Nancy:    Yes, it’s that way. You go two blocks, then turn left. It’s at the corner, opposite the post office.

Marilyn:  Thanks. I’ve only been in town a few days, so I really don’t know my way around yet.

Nancy:    Oh, I know how you feel. We moved here a year ago, and I still don’t know where everything is.

Asking the Way

Visitor to London: Excuse me, could you tell me where Paddington Station is?

Gentleman: I’m sorry, I can’t. I’m a stranger here myself.

Victor:       Sorry, to have troubled you. Perhaps that lady over there will be able to help me. … I’m sorry to trouble you, but can you tell me the way to Paddington  Station,  please?

Lady:        The Underground Station, you mean?

Victor:      Yes, I think so.

Lady:         It’s just round the corner. I’m going in the same direction myself, so if you come with me, I’ll show you.

Victor:      That’s very kind of you.

Lady:        There it is, that building over there.

Victor:      Thank you very much.

Lady:       Don’t mention it.

2) Post- Reading Activity. Етап перевірки розуміння тексту.

T: Translate the phrases.

Чи можете Ви сказати мені, як пройти до метро?

Can you tell me the way to the Underground Station?

Could you tell me where the Underground Station is?

4. T: Try to find the way from the place “You are here” to the different places in this town. Make up situational dialogues using the map:

1. A stranger: Excuse me, please, how can I get to the city centre?

    A policeman: Take bus № 10 and go along Palm Street to the car park.There turn to the right and you’ll see Queen Avenue.

   A stranger: Thank you very much.

2. Mike: Let’s go to the Art Gallery.

Ann:  Do you know how to get there on foot?

Mike: First, go down Lane Street to the Pub and you’ll see the Art Gallery.

3. Peter: What do you think about going to the supermarket?

Nick:  Yes, on our way we’ll go to the Chemist’s and Music shop. It will take us about 15 minutes.

Peter: After that we’ll turn to the right and go across the school yard. It will save our time.

Nick: Ok.

3. Заключна частина уроку.

1). T: Put down your homework. Learn by heart the dialogue “Asking Directions”.

2). T: Today we spoke about asking the way and places in the town. Now you are ready asking the way.
