OUTCOMES: I will be able to: • Use formal and informal language • Share with my thoughts with my classmates in a class discussion • Speak about my family tree • Characterize the main heroes of the story • To work cooperatively in a small group • To identify their own position • Will have a deeper appreciation of literature and literary movements in general

Objectives: to develop the pupil’s reading skills, to practice speaking in monologues,  to develop the pupil’s creative imagination in communicative activities, to develop the logical thinking, to cultivate a positive attitude towards foreign language and learning in general.

Procedure

І. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

1. Greeting

T: Hello! How are you today?

Ps: We are fine, thank you!

T: How is your mood?

Ps: Great.

2. Aim

Today we’re going to work with the text of home reading, at the end of the lesson you will be able to share with your thoughts with your classmates in a class discussion, to speak about your family tree, to characterize the main heroes of the story, to use formal and informal language, to work cooperatively in a small group, to identify their own position, will have a deeper appreciation of literature and literary movements in general.

3. Warm-up.

1. Speaking

Do you like reading books?

What kind of books do you like to read?

What is your favourite book?

Who is your favourite writer?

What do you know about English literature?

What English writers do you know?

Do you have a large family?

Who do you live with?

What relations do you have with your parents?

T: So, today we will discuss a story that named “Just a minute”. You have read it at home. And now all of you know what this story is about. But first of all I want that you divide into two groups. We will do it with the help of the cards. All pupils of each groups should work. I will ask all of you.

 

2. Pre-reading text

T: I want that you create a mind map – write down the words you think of when you hear the word “family”

Discussing the text.

T: We have to remember what the story is about, the main characters, problems of the story and now let’s start to discuss the story. I have two cards with 6 questions for each groups. Your task is to read it, translate and give me the short, but full answer.

1. What did Fred’s mom tell him to do?

2. What was Fred doing inside the house?

2. Why Fred went to his mother’s room?

3. What is the main idea of this story?

3. Why did author name this story “Just a minute”?

4. Why Fred’s family always tell him “Just a minute”?

4. What did Fred build when he was at his room?

5. How many characters were in the story?

5. Who is the main character in the story?

6. Are there some problems in the story? Which one?

6. If there are problems in the stories, what are their solution?
