                        Greetings. Family. Acquaintance

                           Level - beginner (elementary)

                        Oksana Viniukova, a teacher of English,

                       school #2, specializing in English and French,

Objectives:

- to activate using "What is your name?" -"My name is...";

- to teach new vocabulary;

- to teach learners to speak about their families;

- to count from 1 to 10.

Equipment: topical posters, flashcards, coloured pencils, cards with numerals

 

                                        Procedure

I. Introduction. Warming-up

T: Good morning, boys and girls! I'm glad to see you!

Ss: Good morning, teacher! We're glad to see you, too.

T: How are you?

Ss: We are fine, thank you. And you?

T: I'm OK, thank you! How do you go?

Ss: Quickly!

T: How do you jump?

Ss: Highly!

T: How do you play?

Ss: Merrily!

T: How do you dance?

Ss: Beautifully!

T: How do you learn English?

Ss: With pleasure!

II. The Main Part

1. Game "Chain"

T: When you meet the people, you greet them...("Good morning!", "Good afternoon!", "Hello!", "Hi"). Well done!. Now let's play a game "Chain" greeting each other.

2. Presentation of the mini dialogues

T: Try to repeat the dialogues.

- My name is Nick.

- What is your name?

- My name is Diana.

- Hello! My name is Ann.

- What is your name?

- I am Nick.

- Hi! My name is Bob. What is your name?

- Mary.

T: Practice the dialogues in pairs:

S1: Hello!

S2: Hello!

S1: My name is... What is your name?

S2: My name is...

3. Singing a song "Hello"

4. Game "Detective story"

T: Imagine you are a detective. You must find a person by a foot print and ask him/her questions as possible.

Example:

- What is your name? How old are you? Have you got a family?

5. Presentation of new words in the structure "This is a..."

( A picture of Three Little Pigs' Family)

T: This  is Niff-Niff.

    This is Naff-Naff.

    This is Nuff-Nuff.

   This is a mother.

    This is a father.

   This is a grandmother.

   This is a grandfather. (Choral repetition)

T: Children, tell  us about your family. Take and show us the photos of the members of your family.

6. Physical Activity

T: Let's have a rest and do some physical exercises. Repeat after me, please.

Hands up, hands down, hands on hips, sit down.

Stand up! Hands to the sides, bend left, bend right.

Hands on hips. One, two, three - hop! One, two, three - stop!

Sit down!

7. Revision of Numerals

T: You see the things in the picture. Please, count them.

(How many cats/balloons/cars/dogs...can you see?)

III. Summing-up. Reflection

T: Well done! How are you now?

(Діти показують смайли, які у них є на партах.)

T: Very well! Our lesson is over. See you next time! Good-bye, children!
