Учні практикують вживання Past Simple, описують зміни в стилі "Then and Now" та працюють у парах або групах над міні-проєктами. Урок сприяє розвитку мовленнєвих навичок і культурної обізнаності.English Lessons in 6Form

II. First Round “Checking Homework on the topic ‘Machines in the Home’ Words”
1. The students listen and repeat after the CD the names of machines in the home with their SB open Ex. 1 p.34.
2. Each team gets a blank of the crossword to fill in while the teacher shows the Power Point Presentation of the same 11 machines in the home names of which they have to put down in the crossword.
Teacher: Close your books. The first round starts. Don’t forget you have 20 seconds to fill in the blanks with the words. For each correct variant you score a point, for the incorrect one you don’t score any points.
Teacher: The 1st round is over. Please, hand in your crosswords. We’ll count the points each team has scored a bit later.
III. Second Round “Life in the 50s”
1. Pre-Listening:
Teacher: Children, please, build a couple of sentences about life in the 50s according to the pattern using machines in the home words.
The pattern is on the board: People didn’t have/had……….50 years ago.
Then the teacher checks the knowledge of the words from the texts and explains the unknown ones. (There are photos of Sheila Galloway and Tom Harmer on the board and the difficult word combinations. Students read the words aloud and ask the teacher to explain the ones they don’t know).
2. While-Listening:
Teacher: Students, you are going to listen to the two stories about life in the 50s in the US and the UK. Please, while listening read it attentively and try to memorize as much information as possible.
3. Post-Listening:
Teacher: Now the second round of our game starts. Each team has one of the texts heard but it is cut into pieces. The task is to put the pieces in order in which it was presented in the book and the CD. Then I will ask you to read it aloud.
Teacher: Time is over. Step aside, please. The team that is working with the text about the UK starts then goes the team that is working with the text about the US. One by one the team members will read the sentence after sentence of your story. You’ll get your points for both proper arrangement of the text and proper reading of each sentence. The maximum is 14 points.
IV. Third Round “American and British English”
Teacher: It’s time for the captains to win points for their team. Let’s welcome our captains to compete. The captains have to find in their text either British or American equivalent of the given words. The 4th round is over. Let’s count the points each team has scored with the help of their captains.
V. Fourth Round “Making the lifestyle project presentation about the UK and US lifestyles 50 years ago”
Teacher: Pupils of each team, you have 8 minutes to make your project about Sheila Galloway and Tom Harmer’ life in the 50s correspondingly to the text you have worked with. When time is over you have to stick your wallpaper to the board and make its oral presentation. Each team will get a point for each correct sentence.
Teacher: The time is over. Let’s listen to your presentations. Now the team that is working with the information about the US lifestyle in the 50s starts and then goes the presentation of the project about the UK lifestyle in the 50s.
