Topic “Meet my friend”

Objectives:

1. To develop pupil`s speaking, listening, reading and writing skills;

1. to use forms of the verbs to be/ to have in the Present Simple Tense correctly;
2. to foster cooperation working in teams;
3. to appreciate the importance of friendship

Materials: Pupil`s book by Oksana Karpyuk (2018), flashcards, handouts for the game “Bingo”, speech patterns

Procedure

І. Warming-up

1. Greetings. Good morning, boys and girls! It`s a wonderful day today! How are you?

2. Introduction. Today we`ll speak about your friends and their hobbies. You`ll introduce your friends. We`ll also revise how to use the verbs to be/ to have got in the Present Simple Tense.

3. Competition. “Best poetry reader”. Children, tell me, please, have you got a friend? Is it good to have got a friend?  First, listen to the poem “A friend is the best thing to have” then recite it. The best poetry reader will be rewarded.

A friend is the best thing to have,

A friend is the great thing to be,

If you have a great friend

From beginning to end,

You can be as lucky as me!

A friend is the best thing to know,

A friend will always be there,

If you have a great friend

From beginning to end,

You’ll always have someone who cares!

ІІ. Main part

1. Vocabulary  practice . Review of topics  «My Friend”,“Hobby”

Look through the words in the box below. Put the words in the correct places.

2. Reading

     a)   Listen and read about some British children. Ex1.p.48-49  

     b)   After reading activity Ex2.p. 49   Complete with the children`s names

3. Team work.  Lexical game «Bingo». Class is divided into 3-4 groups

Pupils, your task is to throw a dice and write down the received sentence.

                                                    My new friend

At the camp I met a new friend. His name is Alex. He is from _____A_______. He is  a ________B________ boy.  He likes ________ C _________. His hobby is ________D __________. He enjoys  reading books about ____E___________. Alex doesn`t like ______F _______.  I liked my new friend. We spent many ______G _______ days together.

 Let`s have a short rest and sing a happy song   «If you are happy and you know it clap your hands»
