Topic: “My Friend's Birthday”

Main objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:

  •                 identify people on the photo, talk about families, say and recognise 1 to 10, talk about ages;
  •                 use grammar structures: This is..., He is..., She is..., What is...?, How old is he/she?  in the context of speaking about family and age.

Supplementary objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:

  •                 practice their reading, speaking and listening skills;
  •                 cooperate working in pairs or groups;
  •                 draw and write a birthday card.

Materials: a smiley, flashcards with the target vocabulary, worksheets,  a laptop, whiteboard with markers, CD player,  CDs, DVDs with  songs, videos, photos, posters, pens, pencils, paper, crayons.

 

Procedure:

Greeting

T: Good morning, boys and girls!

Cl: Good morning, Miss!

Warmer:

  1. Singing “Hello Song for Kids”. (Whole class work). (slide 2)

T: How are you? Let’s sing a song. (Students are singing and acting).

     2. Tongue twister "Сan you Can"(slide 3)

     3. Chain (Pair work).

T: Give a smiley to your friend, ask and answer “How are you?” question. (Students take it in turns to ask and answer “How are you?” question.)

Dialogue:

P1: (Name), how are you?

P2: I’m great!

 P1: Super!

Lead-In

T: Look at the blackboard. Guess the words and numbers (1-10), let's count together.

T: So, the topic of our lesson is “My Friend's Birthday

Listening

1. listen and point (slide 4) (This is my ... )  Teacher uses word flashcards.

2. Listen and count (slides 5) (1-10) Teacher uses flashcards  with numbers.   (slides 6-7)

T: How old is he/she? (slides 8-9)

Practice

Teacher sticks the cards with dots on the board. Then says the numbers for pupils to repeat. After sticks the number cards next to the dot cards. To practice recognition, points to the number cards and elicit the name in chorus, then from individuals.
