Procedure

I. Introduction

Greeting and Aim

Teacher: “Good morning, everyone! How are you today?”

(Expected students’ responses: “I’m fine, thanks.” “Pretty good.” “Not bad.”)

Teacher: “Today we’ll talk about our Tech habits — how we use technology in our daily lives. We’ll also learn to speak about our past habits using Past Simple and used to.”

Warm-up (Brainstorming)

Teacher: “When you hear the word technology, what comes to your mind?”

(Expected answers: phone, laptop, Internet, social media, apps, games, etc.)

(Teacher writes students’ ideas on the board.)

Teacher: “Do you think you spend too much time online? Why or why not?”
(Short discussion.)

II. Main Part

1. Vocabulary Presentation

Teacher: “Listen and repeat the new words.”

(Students repeat after the teacher: screen time, addiction, online, social media, post, upload, download, chat, app, gadget.)

Teacher: “Now match the words with their meanings in your books.”

(Students complete a matching activity.)

Teacher: “Let’s make sentences using these words.”

(Examples: “I spend too much time on social media.” / “I downloaded a new app yesterday.”)

2. Reading

Teacher: “Before we read, look at the title ‘Are you a tech addict?’ and the pictures in your book. What do you think the text is about?”

(Students make predictions.)

Teacher: “Now let’s listen and read the text.”

(Students read or listen to the text from Full Blast 8, Unit: Tech habits.)

Comprehension questions:

  1. How much time do most teens spend online?
  2. What problems can be caused by spending too much time on gadgets?
  3. What advice does the text give to reduce screen time?

(Students answer orally or in writing.)

3. Grammar Focus: Past Simple & Used to

Presentation

Teacher: “Let’s look at these sentences from the text:”

  • “I used to play outside after school, but now I play games online.”
  • “Last year I didn’t spend much time on social media.”
