Тема заняття: Порада лікаря. The Doctor’s Advice.

Мета заняття:

Навчальна: 1. Ознайомити студентів з новими лексичними одиницями з

                        теми,що вивчається.

                    2. Засвоїти лексичні одиниці, вивчені на попередньому занятті.

                    3. Навчити студентів використовувати нову лексику в усному

                       та письмовому мовленні.

Розвивальна: 1. Активізація розумової діяльності студентів.

                       2. Розвивати творчі здібності студентів.

                       3. Націлити студентів на оптимальну оцінку своїх можливостей

Практична:  1. Практикувати учнів у читанні тексту за темою.

                       2. Удосконалити навички читання та усного мовлення.

                       3.  Формувати навички діалогічного мовлення.

                       4. Удосконалити навички монологічного мовлення.

Виховна:        1. Виховувати і розвивати інтерес до предмету.

                       2. Виховування дбайливого ставлення до свого здоров’я, та

                          дотримуватися здорового способу життя.

                       3. Виховувати уважність, кмітливість та охайність.

Вид заняття: практичне, з елементами гри.

Форма проведення: тренування у вправах, творчі звіти студентів, самостійна робота студентів.

 Хід заняття.

І. Організаційна частина заняття.

      а) Greeting. Привітання студентів.

          T: “Glad to see you at our English lesson. I was looking forward to meet you

                today, and what about you?”

          S: “So we are.”

          T: “Sit down, please”

      б)  Підготовка аудиторії до заняття, перевірка наявності студентів на

           занятті, доповідь чергового.

ІІ. Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення.

 Aim                   1. Повідомлення теми та мети заняття.

                          T: “As you know "Health is the greatest wealth".  The problem of a healthy     

                                 lifestyle has become urgent nowadays. Health depends on ecology.

                                 Nowadays the problems of ecology become very pressing. 

                                The scientists of the whole world are anxious about it.

                                In highly developed industrial countries the healthy lifestyle is a part of daily 

                                 activities. Why is it so?  According to the statistics, the life expectancy

                                 of men and women in many countries is gradually decreasing because of

                                 alcoholism, drugs, smoking, wrong nutrition, stress and other factors.        

                                 Let everybody remember: we live only once and not a very long life.

                                 In order to be healthy we must follow special rules. And today during our    

                                 lesson we shall try to do it.                                                                                        

                                  -Are you going to work hard today?”

                           S: “Of course we are!!”

                           T: “So, let’s start then!”

Warm-up          2. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу. Мовна розминка.

                             Активізація лексичних одиниць, вивчених на попередньому занятті.

                        T: “Let’s practice aloud the words you learned at the previous lesson. I’ll

                             tell you the word in Russian or English and you’ll translate it.

                        T: - a hospital;                                    S: - лікарня;

                             - лікар;                                               - a doctor;

                             - пігулка;                                           - a pill;

                             - a cold;                                             - нежить;

                             -  a pain;                              - біль;

                             - a temperature;                                - температура;

                         T: “And now, one more task for you. Try to match each word and its definition.

                        T: - a closed van for carrying                              S: - an ambulance;

                        T:   - a person who treats teeth…                        S: - a dentist;

                        T:   - a person who is expert in

                                  chemistry…                                                S: - a chemist;

                        T:  - a doctor who performs operations…           S: - a surgeon;

                        T:  - a person who is on doctor’s list

                              of treatment…                                               S: - a patient;

                        T: - the new development of an illness…           S: - a complication;

                        T:  - a medical man…                                        S: - a doctor;

                        T:  - a place where people are treated…           S: - a hospital;

                       T: “And now I’ll show you the card with food and you will tell me what is good

                              for your teeth and what is bad. Look at the example:

                              I think sweets are bad for my teeth

                             I think apples are good for my teeth.

                  Cards: milk, candies, cheese, coffee, bread, sugar, juice, fish, eggs, etc…

                  Answers: Milk is good for my teeth.

                                  Candies are bad for my teeth.

                                  Fish is good for my teeth.

                                  Cheese is good for my teeth.

                                  Chocolate is bad for my teeth.

                                  Eggs are good for my teeth.

                                 Juice is good for my teeth.

                                 Coffee is bad for my teeth.

                                 Bread is good for my teeth.

  III.Основна частина заняття.

homework                      T: “Your homework for today was to make up semantic maps of some

                                              medical terms and to read the text. Let us start from the maps. Who

 wants to go to the blackboard?

                                        a) Студенти виконують завдання на дошці.

                                            Коментують свої відповіді.

                                     b) T: Let’s read the text now “The doctor visited me”.

                                         Reading and translating of the text on p.81;

                                      c) Dramatizing.  T: “Some of our students had a special task for today.

                                        Let us remember what doctors we know”

                                      S: “We know a surgeon, a dentist, a therapeutist, a veterinarian…”

                                      T: “You are right. And who is going to visit the therapeutist? Julia is

                                            going.

               Therapeutist: Hello!

                Julia:             Hello!

               Therapeutist: What’s the matter? You don’t look happy.

               Julia:             I don’t feel well. I’ve got a headache and an earache.

 My ear hurts. And I can’t move my head.

               Therapeutist: How long have you been this?

               Julia:              Since yesterday.

               Therapeutist: What is your temperature?

              Julia:               It is 37.5.

             (Лікар слухає Юлю)

              Therapeutist: You shouldn’t worry. You should stay in bed and keep warm yourself.

   I’ll prescribe some medicines for you. Take the medicine three times a day

                                    before meals. Take some vitamins, too. You should drink

                                    herbal tea (with mint, for example).

  Julia: Thank you very much. Good bye.     

              Therapeutist: Good bye.

                                 T: Answer my questions, please:

• What was the matter with Julia?
• What was her temperature?
• What did the doctor prescribe her?

                                T: And who is going to visit the dentist? Aliona is going.

             Dentist: Hello!

              Aliona: Hello!

             Dentist: What is the matter?

             Aliona: I’ve got an awful toothache. I used a hot water bottle,

                           I took different tablets, but nothing could help me.

             Dentist: Open your mouth, please. Show me your teeth. What tooth hurts you?

                          Oh, your teeth are so bad. Do you brush your teeth?

             Aliona: Oh, yes, I do.

            Dentist: How often do you brush your teeth?

            Aliona: Sometimes often, sometimes seldom.

            Dentist: You must brush your teeth more than three times a day.

 And you must visit the dentist twice a year.

                           But now I’ll extract your tooth. It is too bad.

           Aliona: Oh! My God!

                               T: Answer my questions, please:

• What was the matter with Aliona?
• How many times should she consult the dentist?
• Were her teeth in good condition?

Language                  2.Тренування студентів у вживанні лексики.

Work                            a) T: Look at your card 1. This is a hospital timetable.

                                         Look at it, and then answer the questions.

                                      (Students answer the questions)

                                     b) T: And now you will complete the story with the right words.

                                             Choose the word from the box and fill in the story.

                                             Write down the story into your copy-books.

                                           (Students write down the story)

                                    T: Let’s check your answers. Who wants to be the first to answer?

Grammar                   1.Узагальнююче повторення граматичного матеріалу (вживання               

review                             модального дієслова should/should’t)

                                  а) Т: When we give somebody some advice we usually use modal verb

                                       should. Look at your cards, please. (Students look through the

                                       grammar material.) – Закріплення теорії у справах.

                                      Let's make Health Code. Look at your card there are some sentences.

                                      Let’s complete them using should/shouldn’t

                                     You ... eat vegetables and fruit.

                                     You ... drink hot milk and honey.

                                     You ... eat unfresh food.

                                     You ... sleep 8 hours a day.

                                     You ... do morning exercises.

                                     You ... walk too much in cold weather.

                                     You ... drink cold water.

                                     You ... air the room.

                                     You ... consult a doctor every 3 months.

                                     You ... drink much coffee.

                                     You ... eat a lot of sweets (salt).

                                     You ... watch TV too much.

                                     You ... get wet in rainy weather.

Pair work                  b) T: Now students look at the table there are cards with different diseases.

                                     You must get a card, and your friends will give you some advice.

  Example:                   S: I have a headache.

                                    S: You should consult a doctor.

                                    S: You shouldn't watch TV too much.

                                   c) Самостійна робота по додатку №2.

                                    T: Are you ready with the exercises? Let’s check them!

                                   d) Узагальнення вчителем матеріалу повторення.

 IV. Заключна частина заняття.

Homework                      1. Домашнє завдання.

                                        T: Write down your home task for the next lesson.

                                            To learn the words. To read and translate the text on p81-82,

                                            and to make the ex. 103, p.82; ex.107, p.83.

Summarizing                   2. Підбиття підсумків заняття. Коментар відповідей студентів.

                                         T: I’d like to say that you have shown us your knowledge

                                         in the sphere of medicine. And now you can have a talk with a doctor.
