PROCEDURE OF THE LESSON

I.INTRODUCTION

1.Greeting.

T: Good morning pupils! How are you? I hope you are well  and in a good mood to start  our  lesson. As we have already spoken at the previous lessons it is our health. And the topic of today’s lesson is “Say “No” to Smoking!”. Is it really topical today to be healthy? At our lesson  I am going to do my best to convince you that smoking, drinking alcohol and taking drugs are harmful. I hope you will help me to do that during our lesson.

2. Warming-up

T.: I’ve prepared some special words for you on the posters:

“Keep smiling, you are special”

“ It’s nice to work with you!”

“ I’m glad we’re in the same class”

“ Be happy, you are special!”

Students, let’s think and speak a little  about happiness. What is happiness for you?

S.1: It seems to me happiness is to have much money. People who have a plenty of money can realize their dreams.

S.2: I can argue. I don’t agree with you. I am sure happiness means to be healthy, because when person is seriously ill, no money can help. As the English proverb says “Health is not valued till illness comes”.

S.3: That’s true. But for me happiness means healthy and friendly family.

S.4: For me happiness means a good career in future.

( Other students’ suggests)

T.: I can generalize that happiness has different meanings for you. All of you are different that’s why your thoughts are different as well. As Oleg Vynnyk sings a song “Happiness could be different”! Do you agree with me? But I can confess that happiness for me is to be healthy. It’s an important thing in the world. Right? Dear students the topic of our today’s lesson is how to be healthy avoiding bad habits. A human body is a perfectly organized creation and it’s in our hands either to be healthy, happy, prevent illnesses or to ruin our health by bad habits. We’ll discuss what a hazardous effect they have on people and what measures should be taken to prevent them.

 II. MAIN PART

1.Brainstorming. “AGREE, DISAGREE” game.

The teacher place signs “agree” and “disagree” in two different corners of the room, preferably far apart.

T: You will hear a list of statements, which you will need to respond by moving to the appropriate sign. Let’s discuss your choices. Remember that your answers reflect your opinions. There are no wrong answers even though you may feel otherwise.

- Doing drugs will not impact you future, they are only for fun.

- Many young people do drugs because their friends do them.
