Topic: Food we like

Objectives:

  • to systematize students’ knowledge on the topic;
  • to practice using I like... but I don’t like... structures;
  • to develop listening comprehension and oral speech

Learning Outcomes. By the end of the lesson students will be able to

  • talk about food they like and don’t like;
  • name list of the vegetables and fruit;
  • use  new vocabulary in their speech;
  • ask and answer the questions about  food;

Support materials: picture cards: fruit and vegetables; HO; HO2.

Procedure

I. Introduction.

1.Greeting.

T: Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you.

2. Warming up.

Apples, apples

Growing on a tree.

Apples, apples

Pick one just for me!

One apple, two apples,

Three apples, four –

Red apples, green apples,

Yellow apples, more!

Apples, apples

Tasty as can be.

Apples, apples

Share one now with me!

3. Aim

The theme of our lesson is “Fruit and vegetables”. Today we will speak about fruit and vegetables. So, be active, attentive, work together with me and let’s enjoy our lesson!

II.MAIN PART.

2.1. Presenting and Practicing vocabulary 

Look! These are fruit and vegetables. This is banana/ orange etc.

Point to the cucumber/ onion etc.

2.2 Vocabulary revision. Group work.

T: We have to divide into two groups.

Sort these words into two groups: fruit and vegetables.

T: Can you name all the fruit/vegetables.

2.3 Speaking “What fruit and vegetable do you like”.

Make a circle    (половина учнів класу стають у коло обличчям назовні, а решта утворюють зовнішнє коло, стаючи навпроти одного із першого кола. Таким чином, учні в парах стоять один до одного обличчям, утворивши зовнішнє і внутрішнє кола. За вказівкою вчителя діти із зовнішнього або внутрішнього кола рухаються за годинниковою стрілкою, розігрують діалог, при цьому обмінюються картками з малюнками, ілюстраціями нових слів)

2.5 Grammar.

T. Look at the words and say what article is used before…

- a singular noun starting with a vowel like apple, orange. (article an)

- a singular noun starting with a consonant  like tomato, cucumber. (article a)

HO2:  Divide words into two groups.

 3.1 Homework.

Make 6 sentences What kind of fruit and vegetables likes your family?

3.2  Summing up.

T: What topic did you discuss at the lesson today? What is your favorite fruit and vegetable?

T: Let’s play a game “What am I?” Listen attentively.

 1. I can be red or green or yellow. I grow in the tree in the garden. I am tasty in autumn and in winter. What am I? (apple)

 2. I am very small. I am red. I grow on the tree  in summer. My first letter is “C”. Children like jam with me. What am I? (cherry)

 3. We are very tasty, when we are green. We grow in the kitchen garden. We are tasty, when we a salty too. People like to eat us with tomatoes in salads. What am I? (cucumber)
