Мета уроку:

Навчальна:  повторити і активізувати лексичний матеріал по темі «Країни та міста»; практикувати учнів в усному мовленні; вчити учнів презентувати підготовлений матеріал, узагальнювати інформацію; сприяти формуванню навичок сприйняття інформації на слух (аудіювання); практикувати усне спілкування з використанням різних інтерактивних методів та прийомів; сприяти розширенню обсягу знань,  формуванню критичного мислення

Розвиваюча: розвивати навички аудіювання з опорою на відеоматеріали, вдосконалювати навички читання, говоріння на основі матеріалів про Сполучені Штати Америки, формувати культуру взаємостосунків і поведінки в ході спільної роботи, висловлювати свої думки англійською мовою, правильно будуючи різні типи речень.

Виховна: виховувати позитивне ставлення до іноземної мови як засобу спілкування та мотивувати до її вивчення; збагатити знання учнів про великих людей США; розширити їх кругозір; підвищувати інтерес до пізнання нового.

I. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

1. Привітання.

T: Good afternoon, my dear pupils. I’m glad to see you. I hope everybody is in a good mood and is ready to start our lesson.

2. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку. 

T: Dear pupils, the topic of our English lesson is “The Most Famous People of the USA”. The United States of America is one of the largest countries in the world. It is also one of the most important English-speaking countries. The USA has a great number of famous and outstanding people.

     The motto of the lesson is “History is not made by events, it is made by people”.

Benjamin Franklin

 (1706-1790) 

Бенджамін Франклін — Вікіпедія  1. Ben Franklin was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 17, 1706. His father was a chandler. At the age of 10, he was forced to leave school in order to work with his dad. A few years later, he became a printer's apprentice. He loved to read, and he became quite knowledgeable.

    2. Franklin spent several years working at various jobs in London and Philadelphia. In 1729, Franklin became the publisher of a newspaper called the Pennsylvania Gazette. As a newspaper publisher, Franklin became a prominent voice in Pennsylvania politics.

   3. Franklin played an important role in the early part of the Revolutionary War. He was the nation's first Postmaster General.

    4. Ben Franklin participated in the Constitutional Convention and became the only founding father to sign the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Treaty of Paris, and the Constitution.  Franklin died in Philadelphia on April 17, 1790.

George Washington - Facts, Presidency & Quotes - Biography    1. George Washington was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, on February 22, 1732. He was the eldest child of Augustine and Mary Ball Washington

       2. Before the American Revolution Washington was loyal to Great Britain. By the late 1760s he began protesting unfair British policies. In 1774 and 1775 Washington served in the Continental Congress. In April 1775 fighting between British and colonial troops began. Washington held the army together and continued fighting. In 1781, the British surrendered.

     3. In 1787 Washington served as president of the Constitutional Convention. After the states accepted the Constitution, electors chose Washington to be the country’s first president. Washington took the oath of office in New York City on April 30, 1789. He was reelected in 1792. Washington believed in a strong federal, or central, government.

     4. After eight years as president, Washington refused to run for a third term. He retired to Mount Vernon in March 1797. He died on December 14, 1799,

 “Abraham Lincoln”

(1809-1865)

     I Walk Slowly, But I Never Walk Backward": The Humanity of Abraham Lincoln  | America Magazine   1. On the 12th of  February, 1809, a little boy was born in the backwoods of America, in the State of Kentucky. His name was Abraham Lincoln. He lived with his parents and his sister in a hut made of logs. Life was not very easy for the Lincoln family. In all his life Abraham never went to school for more than a year, and then he had five different teachers.

     2. When he was grown-up, Lincoln once passed a large open market-place, and there for the first time he saw Negro men, women, and even children who were sold as slaves to white masters. He also saw how unkindly these poor slaves were treated. At the time, he said nothing, but he never forgot it and he decided to help the slaves.

     3. He later became a lawyer. The people of Illinois made him a member of parliament. They believed in him and finally made him their leader, the President of the United States.

   4. On April 14, 1865, at a performance at Ford's Theatre, actor John Wilkes Booth entered the presidential box and shot Lincoln in the head. Abraham Lincoln passed away on April 15, 1865.
