Form 1

Topic: Toys

Aim:

  • To practice the pronunciation of English sounds,
  • To practice using vocabulary presented in the unit,
  • To practice learners skills in speaking,
  • To develop speaking and listening skills.

Materials:

  • Worksheets
  • Cards
  • Toys
  • A blackboard
  • A box

 

Stage 1

Aim: to introduce the topic.

Today will practice in speaking and listening. Are you ready? I wish you good luck! And smile and begin to work.

Phonetic drill

Let`s review some sounds. Look at me and repeat after me.

        And we shall practice in listening. Children circle the right variant and listen to the teacher what we shall do the next. Take the red pencil and guess.

  • The first: This is a toy. It is not big. It is small. It`s red. It can do Hoo-Hoo. (That`s right. It`s train).

Circle please the right variant.

Take the blue pencil.

  • The second: This is a toy. ……..

Take the yellow pencil.

  • The third: …..

And my dear, who are you ready, go to the blackboard and will show us your project? Look at your tables and tell us please, what is your favourite toy? What colour is this toy?

Stage 2

Aim: to understand the information about toys.

      Teacher shows cards with toys. She chooses one card, puts it into the box and says: What is it? Learners need to ask a question using the phrases from the cards (“ Is it a plane?”). The answer can be only “Yes/No.”

 Sing a song  “What is it?”

Stage 3

Aim:  to revise the toys vocabulary.

        Students need listen to the CD and cross out (X) the toys that each character hasn’t got, then colour these toys and say: I have got a plane. I have got a bike. I have got a kite.

Stage 4

Aim: to practice toys vocabulary, questions and short answers in pair work.

    Students get a card with toys and second learners need to ask their partner about it (Have you got a bike? Yes I have/No, I haven’t).

Stage 5

Aim: to practice students’ knowledge about toys.

  • Turn to the back of the Workbook, find the appropriate stickers and stick them on the page. Listen to the CD and match each child with the corresponding toy.
  • Follow each route and trace the toy. In pairs, take turns to say what toy each child has got. Then, colour in the toys.

Stage 6

 Aim: Final part of the lesson.

 

Sing a song.

Your work at the lesson is very good.

The lesson is over! Have a nice day! Goodbye dear children.
