Objective:

• Expand students' vocabulary related to family.
• Develop  communication skills through dialogues and monologues.
• Foster creative thinking and imagination.
• Cultivate respect for family and its members.

Equipment: English textbook, handouts, blackboard

Procedure:

1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

TASK 1

Discussion of the quotation:

MAIN PART

TASK 2 (Phonetics)

  Teacher practices sounds commonly found in the topic (e.g., /f/, /m/, /θ/), then asks students to pronounce words related to family (mother, father, sister, brother, etc.).

TASK 3

Class discussion:

• Who is in your family?
• What are your family traditions?

• What do you like doing with your family?

TASK 4

   Teacher introduces new words related to family (grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin, etc.).

TASK 5

Teacher teaches new grammatical structures (e.g., have got, there is/are), then students make up sentences with family vocabulary and have/has got. For example, I have got mother and father…

TASK 6

 Students pair in groups and create the dialogue about "My family" in which they talk about their relatives.

TASK 7

Students create a family tree in groups.
