because we have an unusual lesson-lesson of excursion across

Europe I think we  can talk about travels, excursions for hours

but we have only 45 minutes during which we’ll try to visit many

corners of the world, see famous places all over the world. Of

course, we can do it only virtually, but I hope it will be

interesting for you despite the fait that it’s an imaginary journey.

Today you’ll play the roles of tour-guides. While playing these

roles we’ll develop your speaking, reading, curiosity. You’ll

make an advertisement of a tour and present it.

P1.Great Britain.

If we travel around Europe we can’t stand going to London the capital of the country  the language of which we have been studying for 6 years.

(Pupil makes a presentation, in brief, of London sights).

P2.France.France is the largest state in the European Union by area and the third largest in Europe behind Russia and Ukraine. France has been a major power for many centuries with stong economic, cultural, military and political influence.

I would like to tell some words about Eiffel Tower. Built in tribute as past of the centenary of the French Revolution, the tower has had colorful history over its own 111-year span. It was designed and built by Gustave Eiffel, who also designed the structure supporting Frances’ gift to America, the Statue of Liberty. finished with 40 tons of paint in time for the exhibition, it lured visitors from all over the world.

P3.Germany.The territory of Germany covers 357,021 km2.Germany shares borders with more European countries than any other country in the continent. Its neighbours are Denmark in the north, Poland and Czech/Republic in the east, Austria  and  Switzerland in the  south, France and Luxembourd in the south – west and Belgium and the Netherlands in the north – west.

Germany claims some of the world’s most renowned classical music composers, including Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, Richrd Wagner.

The Bavarian Forest is the oldes national park in Germany. Nature has been allowend a free rein in this unspoilt highland are warmly welcomed to experience the fascinating process of an ever – evolving forest wilderness at close hand. Most of Germany has a temperate seasonal climate. It is moderated by the north Atlantic Drift, which is the northen extension of the Gulf Stream.

P4. Belgium.

The Kingdom of Belgium is a country in northwest Europe. It is a bounding member of the European Union and hosts its headquarters, as well as those of other major international organizations, including NATO.

The grand’Place – one of the most beautiful town squares in Europe. The origins of the Grand – Place are humble. The site still form a sand – bank between two brooks which ran downhill to the river Senne. Once the sand – bank was reclaimed it turned into the “Niedermarckt”, or “lover market”. Already in 12th century Brussels had become a commercial crossroads between Bruges (in Flanders), Cologne, and France. English wool, French wines and German beer were sold in the harbour and on the market.

Nowadays, the Grand – Place is the main tourist attraction of the City of Brussels. All through the year it is visited by thousands who like to spend some time wandering around and admiring the beautiful buildings or sitting down on one of the many terraces having a good Belgian beer.

P5. Italy.

Italy pronounced ( listen); Italian: Italia , officially the Italian Republic (Italian: Repubblica italiana), is a country located partly on the European Continent and partly on the Italian Peninsula in Southern Europe and on the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. Italy shares its northern, Alpine boundary with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. The independent states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within the Italian Peninsula, and Campione d'ltalia is an Italian exclave in Switzerland. The territory of Italy covers 301,338 kml and is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. With 60.2 million inhabitants, it is the sixth most populous country in Europe, and the twenty-third most populous in the world.

The land known as Italy today has been the cradle of European cultures and peoples, such as the Etruscans and the Romans. Italy's capital, Rome, was for centuries the political centre of Western civilisation, as the capital of the Roman Empire, After its decline, Italy would endure numerous invasions by foreign peoples, from Germanic tribes such as the Lombards and Ostrogoths, to the Normans and later, the Byzantines, among others. Centuries later, Italy would become the birthplace of the Renaissance, an immensely fruitful intellectual movement that would prove to be integral in shaping the subsequent course of European thought.

Modern Italy is a democratic republic. It has been ranked the world's eighteenth most-developed country and its Quality-of-Life Index has been ranked in the top ten in the world. Italy enjoys a very high standard of living, and has a high nominal GDP per capita.lt is a founding member of what is now the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Italy is also a member of the G8 and G20. It has the world's seventh-largest nominal GDP, tenth highest GDP (PPP) and the fifth highest government budget in the world. It is also a member state of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Trade Organization, the Council of Europe, and the Western European Union. Italy has the world's eight-largest defence budget and shares NATO's nuclear weapons.

P6.Spain. Spain is a member state of the European Union located in south western Europe on the Iberian Peninsula.

The Magic fountain is a large fountain built in 1929. When the fountain is active, it constantly changes color and shape.

The Font Magica or Magic fountain was part of a project built for the 1929 Universal Exhibition. The exhibition took place on Montjuїc, a hill just southwest of Barcelona's city center.

The project, designed by the engineer Carles Buifgas i Sans consisted of a series of cascades and fountains

between the Palau Nacional, the main exhibition center on the MontjuTc, and the Placa d'Espanva at the foot of

the hill.

The project took one year to complete. The most spectacular part was the monumental Magic fountain. It was

originally intended to show people what could be achieved with filtered electrical light.

After many years of disuse, the fountain was in a bad state, but it was restored for the 1992 Olympic games,

which were held on the same hill.

During the summer evenings, when the fountain is activated, it attracts hundreds of visitors who watch the

approx. 15 minute spectacular display of light, water and music. At the same time, the Palau National is

illuminated, providing a beautiful background. The show runs every thirty minutes. The start and end date

depend on the time of the year, but the best time to see the fountain is at sunset.

P7. Poland. Poland, officially the Republic of Poland ( Rzeczpospolita Polska ), in a country in Central Europe. The total area of Poland is 312,679 km 2 . Poland has a population of over 38 million people, which makes it the 34th most populous country in the world and one of the most populous members of the Europen Union.

Lazienki Park and Palace are both beautiful and relaxing sights to see. The palace, known as "The Palace on the Isle" is built on a lake and is accessible by foot bridges. Wander the park or enter the palace depending upon your mood and the weather. The park offers pathways and shady benches, while the palace allows visitors a glimpse into the life of its previous inhabitants.

Warsaw is the birthplace of the famous Polish composer, Chopin. The Chopin Monument, located in Lazienki Park, is often used as a meeting place for music lovers and a venue for concerts. The original version of this monument is no longer in existence; its reproduction was created after Nazis destroyed the 1926 monument.

When taking a tour of the Royai Castle in Warsaw, be mindful that this structure is a reproduction of the original, just like the Chopin Monument. And, like the composer's monument, the original Royal Castle was destroyed by Nazis during WWII. While the exterior has been recreated, the interior of the Royal Castle is surprisingly authentic. Furniture that was saved from destruction, or replacements from the same period, serve to illustrate the uses of the castle's rooms.

P8. Holland.

Holland is a name in common usage given to a region in the western part of the Netherlands. Moreover, the term Holland is frequently used to refer to the whole of the Netherlands. This usage is unofficial and ambiguous but generally accepted. From the 10th century to the 16th century Holland proper was a unified political region, a county ruled by the Count of Holland. By the 17th century, Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the Dutch Republic. Today, the former County of Holland consists of the two Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland, which together include the Netherlands' three largest cities: country capital Amsterdam, seat of government, The Hague, and Rotterdam, home of Europe's largest port.

Money Magazine named Holland Michigan one of the top ten places to retire, focusing on its mix of quality health care, cultural atmosphere, and open abundance of green space. The only thing it doesn't have that other desirable places do, is high taxes. Not only ideal for retirees, it offers the perfect place for families and vacationers to retire for a nice respite from the daily grind. Among Michigan's top beachtowns, it offers recreational activities, unique shopping, and year-round festivals and events.

You may want to schedule a visit here in May for the Holland Michigan Tulip Festival, drawing off of the town's Dutch influence. During the Holland Michigan Tulip Festival, over six million of the town's signature flower open up to bathe the town in glorious color. The Holland Michigan Tulip Festival, also known as the Tulip Time Festival, is the largest tulip festival in the United States, and Reader's Digest has named it the best small town festival in the country. Dutch Winterfest begins around mid-to-late November, with the annual Parade of Lights, and begins a season-long mix of events. Christmas time here is done in style, with approximately 100 unique shops and galleries offering holiday food and gifts in the European style Christmas market.

Holland Michigan has a beautiful Victorian style downtown with great shopping and an appetizing selection of restaurants. Quaint cafes give you the chance to stop anytime you want to stop for little bit between antique hunting or gallery hopping. Group tours around this distinctly Dutch influenced town are a great way to visit the main attractions while learning a bit about its Dutch heritage. Holland Michigan is a wonderful base from which to bound out to other area attractions in Grand Rapids, and Saugatuck. There's really just so much to do around here on your next vacation, and you will likely find yourself coming back again, probably sooner than later.

P9. Ukraine. We live in Ukraine. It is our Motherland. Ukraine is also large European counry. The population of Ukraine is about 46 million people. The capital of our country is Kyiv, a beautiful city on the banks of the Dnipro River.

Would you like to travel in time and space? Join us at the open-air Museum of Folk Architecture and Traditions, located on the picturesque outskirts of Kyiv in Pyrohovo. It has more than 300 wooden structures transported from different regions of Ukraine. It is a completely accurate representation of Ukrainian village life from the 16th to the 20th century.

The main road leads to the old churches of the 17th and 18th centuries, and to green hills where windmills (yitryaky) overlook the valley. The most exciting part of the museum is the exposition of village houses (khatas), unique because of their age (l6lh century), and the variety of adjoining structures such as cattle-pens and henhouses, cellars and barns, forges and apiaries, watermills and wells. As they enter, visitors sense the history of these dwellings through the small details of peasant life on display. There are samples of weaving and embroidery, wooden and ceramic household utensils, and national costumes.

In May and September, traditional fairs are held there. During these events, not only can you walk around, but you can watch a potter making a jug or admire a blacksmith at work. You can even spin the wheel yourself and design a piece of pottery as a keepsake. If you are lucky enough, you might even end up participating in a traditional wedding ceremony!
