Travel to Great Britain

Scene 1 (In the room)

P1: Hi! What are you doing?

P2:Oh, it's you! You know that I'm going to Great Britain, so I'm packing my things.

P1:Oh! Lucky you are! It's my dream to go there. Can I go with you?

P2: Sure! Hey, friends! Shall we travel together!

Children: Yes! Let's start our journey!

A song “Kid's Peace Song”

P3: Up and down, up and down,

Which is the way to London town?

Where? Where?

Up in the air.

Close your eyes

And you are there!

Scene 2 (Conversation with the gentleman)

Big Ben sounds

P1:Oh! Where are we?

P2: Can you hear the sounds? What's this?

P1: Let's ask this man.

P2:Excuse me, sir. Can we ask you some questions?

Gentleman: Yes, of course.

P1:Can you tell us what the strange sound is?

Gentleman: Don't you know? It's Big Ben – the most famous clock in the world. And where are you from, children?

P2: We are from Ukraine.

Gentleman: Welcome to London!

Rain sounds

P1: Oh, it's raining. We need umbrellas.

P2: Where can we get them?

Gentleman: Go to Oxford Street. There you can buy everything you need. You can find lots of different shops.

P1: Thank you, sir! Good bye!

Gentleman: You're welcome!

Scene 3 (In the shop)

P1: Oh, this London weather! It always rains here.

P2: Let's get in this nice shop.

Shop assistant: Hello! Can I help you?

P1: Yes, please. We need umbrellas. Have you got any?

Shop assistant: Yes, you can choose from these.

P1: I like this one.

P2: I want to have this one. How much is it?

Shop assistant: It's fifty pounds.

P1: Thanks a lot. Good bye.

Outside

P2: Oh! It stopped raining. Let's continue our exciting journey!

P1: Look! Can you see those people? Maybe they are going sightseeing. Let's join them.

Tourist1: London is the capital of Great Britain. It is one of the most interesting places in the world. About eight million people live here. There is a big river in London – the Thames. There are a lot of bridges over the river. Tower Bridge is the most popular. It is more than 100 years old.

Tourist2: There are lots of places of interest in London. From Tower Bridge you can see the Tower of London. It is a museum now. There are hundreds of interesting collections in it. There is a famous clock called Big Ben.

Tourist3: The London Eye is on the Southbank of the river Thames. It is the biggest wheel in the world. It's 135 metres high and you can see the whole London. It has 25 cabins and each holds up to 25 people.

Tourist4: You can see splendid churches in the city. Westminster Abbey is one of the oldest royal churches. St. Paul's Cathedral is the most wonderful classical church in Britain.

Tourist5: London's parks and gardens are really beautiful. In Regent's Park there is the Zoo. It is one of the biggest and most famous zoos in the world.

Tourist6: There are about 10 thousand streets in London with a lot of shops and cafes, cinemas and theatres, galleries and museums.

Tourist 7: Madame Tussaud's is a very unusual museum. There you can see wax statues of famous people: musicians, film and sport stars and the Royal Family.

Tourist8: If people lose their fame, their statues are melted down and the wax is used for those who are popular now.

Tourist 9: Big red buses run up and down the streets. A double-decker is a bus with two levels. They appeared in London in 1820 and became red in 1950. The double-deckers are very popular in London.

Tourist 10: The oldest metro in the world, called “Tube”, is here in London, too. It was built in 1863. It carries two million passengers every day and has 273 stations.

Scene 4 (In the street)

“Yellow Submarine”

P1: Can you hear the music? I like it. Let's come closer.

P2: I know this song. Let's sing together.

Singer1: The Beatles were one of the most popular music groups. People think they are the best musical group on Earth.

Singer2: The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960.

Singer3: It had John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr.

Singer4: They sold 600 million records. Their famous songs are: “Yesterday”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Imagine”. They broke up in 1970.

Scene 5 (Buckingham Palace)

P1: What is this beautiful palace?

P2: See, it's Buckingham Palace.

P1: Do you know who lives here?

P2: Yes, Buckingham Palace is the London home of the queen and her family. Tourists come from all over the world to watch the Changing of the Guard. Every day a new guard of thirty guardsmen marches to the Palace and takes the place of the old guard.

P1: Look, the Queen is coming!

Queen: I'm Queen Elizabeth the second. Let me introduce my family: This is my husband, Philip. These are my children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward. I have got four grandchildren – four grandsons and four granddaughters.

Oh, it's time for tea.

Children: Yes, we agree

Let's go and see

what we can have for tea.

Queen: We have a very fine tradition. Every day at 5 o'clock all Englishmen drink tea. We also eat tasty sweets, cakes, brownies and sandwiches.

P4:T his tradition to drink tea appeared in 1840. And people like this tradition. They usually drink tea with milk and sugar, but they don't drink tea with lemon.

P5: For “five-o'clock-tea” we need a tablecloth, teapot, spoon, cup and saucer.

P6: Here are some ABC of Table manners for the English Tea drinking. During drinking tea you must follow the next rules.

P7: You must lay sugar in the tea carefully.

P8: You must eat the pie with the help of spoon but not hands.

P9: You mustn't tap the spoon for a cup stiring tea.

P10: And one more: during drinking tea Englishmen speak only about pleasant things

P11: Why is tea drinking so popular? It's a lovely way to spend time with friends.

P12: Take your seats at the table and let's have a nice cup of tea!
