         Цілі:  вдосконалювати навички усного мовлення, читання, аудіювання, систематизувати лексичний матеріал з теми.

     Розвивати мовленнєву реакцію, мислення, пам`ять, увагу і творчість учнів; виховувати доброзичливе ставлення до співрозмовника, розвивати гуманізм та людяність,виховувати риси патріотизму у учнів, любов до своєї рідної землі, до неньки України.

Objectives: to improve skills in speaking, reading, listening, to organize lexical material on the topic. To develop speech reaction, thinking, memory, attention and creativity of pupils, nurture positive attitude to the interlocutor, to bring up the lines of patriotism in pupils, love for his native land, motherland Ukraine, to teach pupils to respect their native customs and traditions.

Equipment:  the geographical map of Ukraine puzzles of two maps of Ukraine, a computer, pupils` presentations. embroidered towels; embroidered shirts; branches of guilder-rose; Song “In the field a guilder-rose”. 



  1. Warming-up.

 My land is so beautiful and free Ukraine
Ukraine, the dearest land I can see.
When down the river I go boating
And birds are flying high above,
I hear a song,and it is flowing
To those trees, the land I love.

T: The topic of our lesson is «We live in Ukraine, we are Ukrainians». Today unusual lesson and we shall play the game. I`ll divide you in two teams. The first team will be called «Bright sun» and the second team will be called «Blue skies». We`ll have several competitions in different kinds of activity. We began our game.

Team number one, your motto:

Pupils: «We live in Ukraine and we love Ukraine».

T: Team number two, your motto:

Pupils: «Ukrainians are kind, Ukrainians are friendly and Ukrainians are the best ».

T: I have a surprise for you. In this box there is a paper with written name one of the biggest city of Ukraine. Try to guess. Pupils tell the names. (Key: Odessa). I have the next surprise for you. In this box there is the national food of Ukraine. Try to guess what is it? Pupils tell the different kinds of food. (Key: brown bread).

 T: We continue our game. I ask some questions to both teams. The team which will have more right answers is the winner.

Let`s begin.

  1. What is the capital of Ukraine?
  2. Where is Ukraine situated?
  3. What is the population of Ukraine?
  4. What seas is Ukraine washed by?
  5. What are the main rivers in Ukraine?
  6. What are the highest mountains in Ukraine?
  7. What are the biggest cities in Ukraine?
  8. When do we celebrate the Independence Day?
  9. What are the Ukrainians like?
  10. What are the national symbols of Ukraine?
  11. What national dishes in Ukraine do you know?
  12. What are the national holidays in Ukraine?
  13. What river does Kyiv stand on?
  14. What is the territory of Ukraine?

Pupils answer the teacher`s questions.

  II. Main part.

 T: The competition of the leaders of our teams. In turn each leader of the teams «Bright sun» and «Blue skies» tell about Ukraine (its seas, mountains, territory, cities, climate, rivers etc.). The best teller is a winner.

         1. T: The next competition is called « Who is the cleverest? ». On the blackboard are written words in two columns. The task is to match words and make seven right word combinations.  One pupil of each team goes to the blackboard and do task.

2. T: We have already worked much and we must have rest. Let`s do our morning exercises. Do an action chant. Pupils stand up.

Up down, up down, 1, 2, 3 (both arms up and down, clap on 1, 2, 3)

Up down, up down, 1, 2, 3 (both arms up and down, clap on 1, 2, 3)

Left arm, up, down (left arm out to the side, then up and down)

Right arm, up, down (right arm out to the side, then up and down)

Left leg, up down (left leg out to the side, then up and down)

Right leg, up, down (right leg out to the side, then up and down)

Up down, up down, 1, 2, 3 (both arms up and down, clap on 1, 2, 3)

 3. Teacher: Look around. What a beautіful classroom we have today! It is decorated with guelder-rose and beautiful em­broidered towels (rushnyky). What do you think we are going to do today?

Pupil1: I think we shall learn about the folk art of embroidery in my native country-Ukraine.

Pupil2: In my opinion, we shall learn how to embroider. Оuг mothers and grandmothers lean to show us their skills.

Teacher: Why do you think embroidery is very important in people’s life?

Pupil3: I think, embroidery is impor­tant because it is a part of our history. Ukrainian embroidery is in our roots. And we cannot live and grow up without roots.

Pupil4  We shall speak about our Motherland- Ukraine, our traditions and native customs.

Teacher: You are right.

4. T: The next competition in our game is the most interesting. The task is to make the map of Ukraine of the puzzles. Each team gets some puzzles and makes the map. The team which makes the map of the puzzles first is the winner. 

  5. T: I want to present you some interesting presentations to the topic «Ukraine» which were made by our pupils. Let`s see them together. (All pupils see the presentations).

6. T: We continue our lesson. I want to present you the new game ”What  famous Ukrainians do you know? Pupils of each team tell the surnames of famous Ukrainians in turn. The winner is the team which knows the most surnames.

7. T: Our next competition is called “True or false”.

III. Summing –up.

   Dear boys and girls, dear guests, today in our lesson we touched our hearts to the past and present of our lives in the ornaments of Ukrainian embroidery.

Let’s remember who we are, remember our roots, respect our  nation.

Let’s live in love, peace, and understanding, and you will have

happy future.
