Read the information about Kate Winslet

  1. Kate Winslet was born in reading, England, on 5th October, 1975, so she is a “libra”
  2. She has got blue eyes, her natural hair colour is blond. She has got titanic feet – size 44!
  3. Classical music, indigo girls, porishead, oasis, crowded house.
  4. There is a history of acting in the Winslet family. When Kate was a child, her grandparents presented plays and musicals in the garden! Both her parents act and her two sisters are actresses, so it was no surprise when Kate entered the acting profession.
  5. Kate started at an acting school, but she didn’t like it. Her first job (aged 12) was in a TV advert for a breakfast cereal – she didn’t speak, but danced with “the honey monster”! as a teenager, she acted small parts in various television series and also played the part of Wendy in a musical version of “Peter Pan”.
  6. Her first big part didn’t arrive until “Heavenly Creatures”. When they asked her to be the star, she had a job in a bar – “I was making sandwiches when I received the call!” she says.
