               The Basket in the Kitchen-garden

Author: Once upon a time there lived a farmer.

Farmer: I’m a farmer. This is my big kitchen-garden. I like working here.

Author:  The farmer was very hard-working. Every day he worked in it. One day the farmer went to his kitchen-garden. He was working very hardly from the morning till noon.

Farmer: Oh!  I’m really tired. I’ll go home. I want to have a rest.

Author: And the farmer went home. But he forgot to take his basket.

               The basket was very big and beautiful. Later a red tomato saw it and thought:

 

Tomato: What a beautiful basket! Who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Author: There was no answer.

Tomato: So I’ll live here.

Author: Then an orange carrot saw the beautiful basket.

Carrot: Oh! What a beautiful basket! It’s big and nice.

 Who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato: I do. I’m a red tomato. I’m chubby and juicy. I like sleeping.

Carrot: May I live with you?

Tomato: But who are you?

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot. I’m slim and pretty. I enjoy walking and running.

Tomato: OK! Come in, please.

 

Author: Soon a green cucumber saw the beautiful basket.

Cucumber: Wow! What a beautiful basket! It’s a good house for me. I like it. But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato and carrot: We do.

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Tomato and carrot: But who are you?

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber. I’m long and funny. I like reading.  May I live with you?

Tomato and carrot: Yes, you may. Come in, please.

 

Author: Then a sweet pepper saw a beautiful basket.

Pepper: Ah! What a beautiful basket! It’s nice for me. I like it very much. But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato, carrot and cucumber: We do.

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Tomato, carrot and cucumber: But who are you?

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper. I’m cool. I like cooking and taking photos. May I live with you?

Tomato, carrot and cucumber: Yes, you may. Come in, please.

 

Author: After that a round cabbage saw the beautiful basket.

Cabbage: Ha-ha-ha! What a beautiful basket! It’s as round as me. I like it. But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato, carrot, cucumber and pepper: We do.

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Tomato, carrot, cucumber and pepper: But who are you?

Cabbage: I’m a round cabbage. I’m merry and friendly. I like listening to music. May I live with you?

Tomato, carrot, cucumber and pepper: Yes, you may. Come in, please.

 

Author: Later a yellow onion saw the beautiful basket.

Onion: Oh! What a beautiful basket! It’s nice. I’d like to live there.

 But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato, carrot, cucumber, pepper and cabbage: We do.

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Cabbage: I’m a round cabbage.

Tomato, carrot, cucumber, pepper and cabbage: But who are you?

Onion: I’m a yellow onion. I’m very good and a little sly. I enjoy crying. May I live with you?

Tomato, carrot, cucumber, pepper and cabbage: Yes, you may. Come in, please.

Author: Soon a spicy chilly saw the beautiful basket.

Chilly: Wow! What a beautiful basket! It’s big and wonderful. I like it.

 But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato, carrot, cucumber, pepper, cabbage and onion: We do.

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Cabbage: I’m a round cabbage.

Onion: I’m a yellow onion.

Chilly: I’m a spicy chilly. I’m red and very cool. I like singing songs. May I live with you?

Author: And a violet egg-plant saw the beautiful basket.

Egg-plant: Oh! What a beautiful basket! It’s just right for me.

 But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Cabbage: I’m a round cabbage.

Onion: I’m a yellow onion.

Egg-plant: I’m a violet egg-plant. I’m strong and serious. I like doing sport and playing chess. May I live with you?

Author: Then a pink radish saw the beautiful basket.

Radish: Ah! What a beautiful basket! It’s good for me. But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Cabbage: I’m a round cabbage.

Egg-plant: I’m a violet egg-plant.

Author: Later a purple beetroot saw the beautiful basket.

Beetroot: Well! What a beautiful basket! I can live there. But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Potato: Go-o-o-o-d! What a beautiful basket! It’s just right for me.  But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Author: Then a white garlic saw the beautiful basket.

Garlic: Super! What a beautiful basket! Can I live there? But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Onion: I’m a yellow onion.

Chilly: I’m a spicy chilly.

Egg-plant: I’m a violet egg-plant.

Radish: I’m a pink radish.

Author: At last a huge pumpkin saw the beautiful basket.

Pumpkin: O-la-la-la! What a beautiful basket! It’s as big as me. It’s good for me. I want to live there. But who lives in the basket, basket, basket?

Tomato, carrot, cucumber, pepper, cabbage, onion, chilly, egg-plant, radish, beetroot, potato and garlic: We do.

Tomato: I’m a red tomato.

Carrot: I’m an orange carrot.

Cucumber: I’m a green cucumber.

Pepper: I’m a sweet pepper.

Cabbage: I’m a round cabbage.

Onion: I’m a yellow onion.

Chilly: I’m a spicy chilly.

Egg-plant: I’m a violet egg-plant.

Radish: I’m a pink radish.

Beetroot: I’m a purple beetroot.

Potato: I’m a brown potato.

Garlic: I’m a white garlic.

Pumpkin: I’m a huge pumpkin. I’m orange and a little shy. I like playing the musical instruments. Drums are my favourite. May I live with you?

Tomato: But basket is almost full. You can’t live here.

Pumpkin: I’ll be very quiet. Let me live with you!

Author: And the basket was full. In the evening the farmer remembered about his basket and went to the kitchen-garden.

Farmer: Oh! My basket is full of vegetables. I’m very happy!
