Elaborate

Ask the children to listen and circle. Monitor and help

           where necessary.

  • Invite pupils to read the sentences with the circled words.
  • Ask the class to look at the picture in Ex. 4 at p. 51 in Pupil’s Book and say what the children are doing. Ask the students to work out the rules. Think of a short sentence, then go round choosing children to repeat the sentence and add to it. If the child forgets the list, his/her friends are allowed to prompt. Play until everyone has had a turn.

Evaluate

  • Stick the words for food to the board. Ask the students to write positive or negative sentences with the words on the board. Elicit a few examples from the class (e.g. I’ve got 5 bananas. There isn’t much milk., etc.). Monitor and help if necessary.
  • Put the students into two teams. Ask a player from one team to read the sentence and explain that the other team need to think of the question for which the sentence can be the answer (e.g. How many bananas have you got?). Help the teams with the first couple of questions if necessary.
  • Award points for the correct sentences and questions. Praise the children.

At the end of the lesson, students can signal with thumbs up or down to show how they like or dislike the material.
