Having meal

Objectives:

  • to introduce and practice the new topic;
  • to revise previously taught vocabulary on the topic;
  • to improve students’ reading and speaking skills;
  • to develop students’ communicative competence;
  • to interest students in learning grammar;
  • to develop students’ grammar competence;
  • to activate thinking imagination;
  • to encourage understanding and tolerance to others;
  • to broaden student’s outlook;
  • to encourage students’ interest to meal traditions of different countries;
  • to develop self-esteem and a sense of respect for others.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson students will be able:

  • to use the words of the topic in oral speech;
  • to express their personal attitude to the healthy style of eating;
  • to discuss the questions making decisions;
  • to give definitions of the words
  • to describe people.

 

Procedure

 

1. Warm-up

Ex.1 p.22

Read and discuss these proverbs. Do you agree with them? Give your reasons. What are the Ukrainian equivalents of these proverbs?

  • Good health is above wealth.
  • Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
  • The healthier we are, the better we feel.

 

2. speaking

Ex.2 p.22

Discuss and complete the mind map. Add some more words and expressions which have not been mentioned in the list given below.

1. What are the laws of health in your opinion?

2. What factors affect people’s health?

These words and expressions can help you:

good rest and sleep, junk food, stress, balanced diet, perfect cleanliness, physical exercises, pure water, pure fresh air, healthy food, addiction.
