Subject:     My everyday actions

Objectives:

  • to learn and practise new vocabulary;
  • to develop reading, listening, speaking and writing skills;
  • to learn to talk about routines;
  • to learn to tell the time.

Vocabulary:  morning [ʹmɔ:niŋ], letter [ʹletə], postcard [ʹpǝʊstka:d], parcel [ʹpa:s(ǝ)l], afternoon [‚ɑftəʹnu:n], evening [ʹɪvnɪŋ], watch TV [wɒtʃ ], beach [bi:tʃ]

Grammar: Present Simple (affirmative)

Materials: PB, AB (Fly High 3), CD player, posters

                                                  PROCEDURE

I Greeting

Good morning, pupils! I am glad to see you. How are you? Today we are going to learn many new things, to learn how to tell the time and read a new story about our friends.

II Warm-up

But let’s start with an exercise for our tongues.

  •        Phonetic warm-up.  Look at the table at the board. What letter is this? P's answer. Letter Ee gives two sounds long [i:] and short [e]. Now look at the table on the board and repeat after me. Then read one by one.

V Presenting new vocabulary

Now we are going to start a new lesson in our book, so open your pupil’s books at page 18, please. Look at the words at the top of the page, where can we use all these words? Listen and repeat the words. (Tr. 16)

VI Listening and Reading

Look at the pictures for a story “The postman comes at seven”. Where are the animals? Who’s the man? What’s he carrying? Did you like it? I’m glad to hear it. Now let’s listen to the story and you follow the lines, please. (Tr. 16) Tell me please: Why are Chatter and Karla arguing? Who is the parcel for?

And now we are going to read and translate the story. Who wants to be the first to read? Thanks for your reading. Now look at ex.1. Circle the correct answer. Let's read the example: The postman comes at six. Let's find the sentence in the text. So, The postman comes at six. Yes or   no  ?No, well done. Finish the exercise and let's check the answers.

VIII Learning to tell the time

T. draws on the board three different o'clock times. When we want to tell at what time we do something we say at... o'clock. (L1)

    

    at eight o'clock       at one o'clock        at two o'clock

Now , children, tell me what do you do at that time of the day. For example: At eight o'clock I go to work. P's answers.

IX Speaking

And now let’s spell the words we have learned today:

morning, letter, postcard, parcel, afternoon, evening, watch TV, postman.

X Summing up

So today we have learned some new words, read an interesting story, learned how to tell the time. You all worked very well today.
