Конспект уроку з англійської мови для 3 класу шкіл з поглибленим вивченням англійської мови на тему "Спорт". Мета уроку: активізувати лексичні одиниці по темі "Спорт" та ознайомити з новими лексичними одиницями, формувати мовну компетенцію учнів по темі "Спорт".

The Third Form

Topic:  Sports
Objectives: to introduce new vocabulary: play volleyball, skate, skip, play basketball, do gym, do judo, play table tennis;
to form lexical language competence;
to acquaint students with the structures isn't, aren't;
to form a grammatical language competence;

to activate the vocabulary of the topic;

to form speech competence of pupils on the theme "Sports";
to raise interest in learning English, positive attitude to the sport.

By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to: learn new words, use the structures isn't, aren't, answer the questions, make up sentences.
Equipment: cards with pictures, a microphone, cards with structures, an interactive board, a computer,  students’ books .
Procedure.

I. Introductory part.

       1. Greeting (1 min.)

 Good morning, girls and boys! Sit down, please.

How are you? How old are you? What day is it today? What month is it now? Do you like to run? Can you jump? Can you play football? Are you good at tennis? 

       2. Explaining the aim of the lesson. (1min.)

Today we are going to listen, to read, to learn new words and structures, to match, to make a dialogue, to sing and so on. 

Are you ready for today’s lesson?

II. Main part of the lesson.

  1.  Phonetic drills. (2min.)

Meet Mister Tongue, children. He will teach you to pronounce the sounds correctly. He asked me to help you. Put your tongue between your teeth. Do like this [ θ ], [ ð ] Repeat these sounds and the words, please.(think, this, that) .

And now let`s pronounce the sound [æ]. Open your mouth wide Repeat [æ], [æ] ,[æ].. And in the words: (lamb, cat,  . )

 

 

 

 

And now let`s pronounce the sound [ g ]. Do like this: frog, dog, hop, trot.

 

 

 

 

 

Now read the words all together.

  1. Warming up (4min.)

Listen to the poem ``It`s Fun`` and be ready to read it.

It`s Fun

It`s fun to be this,

It`s fun to be that.

And now let`s read it all together. And one by one.

Answer the questions:

  1. Can you leap like a lamb? Leap like a lamb, please.
  2. Can you climb like a cat? Climb like a cat, please.
  3. Can you swim like a fish? Swim like a fish, please.

 

    3. The message topics and lesson objectives (2 min.)

Look at the whiteboard. This is a poem. Look at the poem and guess what our topic will be? So the topic of our lesson is “Sport”.

 

Sport is fun for girls and boys

It`s much better than the boys.

         You can sledge and ski   and skate

         And play snowballs with Kate.

You can swim and play football,

Hockey, tennis, basketball.

        You can jump and you can run.

        You can have a lot of fun.

Name all kinds of sports from this poem.

III. Main part of the lesson.

  1. Presentation of the vocabulary. ( 7 min.)
    What sports do you like? Can you play football?
  1. Look, read and repeat.

Volleyball, basketball, tennis, hockey, football,  basketball.

If a person plays volleyball.      He is a volleyball player.

  1. Make up sentences with these words.      
  2.               And now a new portion of  unknown words:

 skating

skipping

  1.               Match the word and pictures.

  1.               Look at the blackboard and answer my questions, please:

Can you skate? Can you skip? Do you like skating? Do you like skipping?

Do you do gym? Do you do judo?

 

  1. Revising of grammar material.  The structures isn't , aren't. (6 min.)

Look here, children. She is not a football player. We use a short form isn't for is not and we say: She isn’t a football player. They are not teachers. We use a short form aren't for are not.  Tell, please: They ...

Now let's make the sentences negative.

He is a volleyball player.

He isn't a volleyball player.

They are hockey players.

They aren't hockey players.

He is a basketball player.

He isn't a basketball player.

He is a baseball player.

He isn't a baseball player.

  1. Physical exercises. ( 2min.)

Repeat the words after me and do the exercises.

Listen to the song and try to sing it.

  1. Listening and reading activities ( 7 min.)

Meet my friends Ivan and Nick. Ivan is from Ukraine and Nick is from Great Britain. They speak about sports. Listen to them, please, and name the kinds of sports they mentioned.

 

Nick: What are the most popular sports in Ukraine?

Ivan: They are football, hockey, chess and swimming.

           Nick:  And what kinds of sports do you play?

           Ivan: Well, I play chess, football, basketball and tennis.

          Nick: Oh, do you? But what is your favourite kind of sports?

          Ivan:  My favourite kind of sports is football.

What are the most popular sports in Great Britain?

         Nick: They are cricket, golf and rugby.

  • And now let's dramatize the dialogue.

Choose the card. You will be Ivan and you will be Nick.

 

  • What kinds of sport can you name?
  1. Writing activities ( 4 min.)
  1. And now read the dialogue and choose Ukrainian and British kinds of sports. Put them into separate columns.

  1. Our new task is to complete the dialogue.

Ex. 4, p.13.

Look at the picture and say what the children are doing.

E.g. Bob and Mark are doing judo.

6.   Listening Comprehension and group work. ( 3 min.)

Children, look at the boy and say: Does he like sports? And then you do some tasks. Now I’ll divide you into two groups. The task of the  first group is listen and say true or false. The task of the second group is choose the right answer. And now listen to the tape recorder.

This is Tom. He is a sportsman. Tom likes to play football. He usually plays football after his lessons. Tom dreams to be a good football player. He regularly does exercises. On Saturday Tom and his friends play football at the stadium. The boy likes playing football very much.

Task 1

Are these sentences true (+) or false (-)?

  1.               The boy's name is Bob.
  2.               He is a volleyball player.
  3.               Tom regularly does exercises.
  4.               He plays football.

Task 2

Choose the right answer:

1. Tom plays:            a) baseball;

          b) football;

          c) basketball.

2. He plays football:  a) before his lessons;

          b) after his lessons.

3. Tom dreams to become a good:

a) football player;

b) tennis player;

c) basketball player.

4. Tom plays with his friends: a) in the gym;

b) at the stadium.

7.  Speaking activities. (2 min.)

Children, you see that Tom is a good sportsman. Do you want to become good sportsmen? If you want to be good sportsmen you should do  sports regularly. You must know that sport helps people to be strong and healthy.

There are  a lot of proverbs about sports and a healthy way lifestyle. Do you know any proverbs. What are they? Your task is to make up the proverbs. Try to explain or translate them.

1. In sports and journeys men are known.

2. A sound mind in a sound body.

3. Health is better than wealth.

4. Early to bed and early to rise make a man healthy, wealthy and wise.          

5. After dinner sit a while, after supper walk a mile.

8. Singing a song. ( 2 min.)

Children, listen and think what this song is about?

  • Do you like this song?
  • Look at the words of the song and try to sing it.
  • Listen again and complete the song.

III. Conclusion.

  1. Summing up (1 min.)

What new words have you learnt today? What sport do you like best of all? What is your favourite sport?  Are you a good sportsman?  What today’s activities do you like? Why?

  1. Home assignment (1 min.)

Your home task for the next lesson will be - to learn the new words.
