Objectives:

practical: to train and improve the pupils' speaking and listening skills on the subject using  quotations by famous people about  going places;

 to train them in reading and writing;

educational: to expand the pupils' knowledge of  llama trekking in New Mexico, to teach pupils to feel it's beauty;

developing : to incorporate team and pair work, creative thinking skills, quick reaction of students, logical way of thinking  ability to see and consider strong and week, positive and negative sides of arguments; 

 to develop the pupils' ability of using the vocabulary in new situations;

 to develop their imagination.

up – bringing: to encourage them to be more friendly, to teach them good manners of  communication, to respect each other.

Procedure:

Warming-up activity:

1.Game “Round the world in 5 minutes”     Present Perfect Simple          5 min.

T: Would you like to go sightseeing round the world? Where have you already been? Where exactly? Unite into two groups.

Throw the dice and find your destination. The students of the first group throw across the top of the places but the members of the second group throw down the side. You know the rules of the game, don’t you?

2.Video                                                                                                           10 min.

Pre-watching activities:

How lucky you are, you’ve been to many exciting places.

By the way, do you have friends from other countries?

 Watch a story about two friends from different places.

 Nawwar: I’m happy to be in Germany because there is no war. My name is Nawwar. I am seven years old and I live in Berlin for three months.

 Alec: I am Alec. I live in Berlin and I’m seven years old.

Nawwar and Alec became good friends at school after Alec acted as his translator. The boys attend school with students from more than 60 countries.

Alec: It’s really interesting that he went really far. He started in Syria, travelled to Turkey, then to Greece and then to Germany.

 Nawwar: And it was a really hard journey. The most difficult part was sleeping on rocks and climbing up mountains and down mountains … up and down. And on the boat.

During the dangerous sea crossing, Nawwar imagined he was protected by friendly polar bears.

Nawwar: We have seen friendly white bears. The best part of my journey was the white bears.

With Alec’s help, Nawwar is learning more German every day.

Alec: He’s one of the best readers in our class. He’s made a lot of friends so far and probably will make many more friends this school year and he’s just really good in school.

5.Discussion.  Would you like to go llama trekking? Think of reasons why you would or why you wouldn’t like to go llama trekking in New Mexico?

What’s the difference between trekking with horses and with llamas?

You ride horses but you don’t ride llamas.

Are all the treks difficult? No, some are easy.

Are the deserts in the north or the south of New Mexico? (the south).

Why is the bald[ↄ:] eagle famous? It’s the symbol of the USA.

Because it’s fun, (exciting, healthful, environmentally friendly)

Because it’s a wonderful family vacation. Llamas love to carry loads...no kidding. Little kids can ride!

It’s healthy for your spirit and your body. 

Llama trekking outdoor recreation adventures are just about the best way to get away from  all your problems.

Haven't been hiking since last summer? Spring has come. What about the Carpathians? Been there? Done that? Try climbing the highest mountain Goverla in Ukraine for a change of your lifestyle .

- I’m interested in history. I would like to go to Lviv during my spring holidays because  I want to go sightseeing.
