Theme. Food

Objectives: to practice the pronunciation of the sound [t ] and [d] ; to encourage pupils to use new vocabulary; to learn new grammatical material ( some/any) ; to develop reading, writing and speaking skills.

Procedure

  1. Introduction     

Greeting

Good morning pupils! I am very glad to see you. The theme of our lesson is Food.

  1. Let’s train our tongue. On the board you can see two sounds:

     [t ]                    [d]

          Plate                     Bread                              

          Salt                       Radish

Fruit                      Food

Potato                    Hot dog                   

Meat                      Salad

  1. Answer the questions.

1.What is your favorite food? 

2. What food don’t you like?

3.How often do you eat fruit?

4.What food do you think is bad for you?

5.How often do you eat sweets?

      3.Match the word with its translation

Yoghurt                    печиво

Bread                        пиріг        

Soup                         чіпси

Juice                         йогурт

Pie                            помідори

Chips                        хліб

Ice-cream                 суп

Tomato                    морозиво

Сookies                   сік

  1. Solve some riddles
  1. It is white and sweet. All children like to eat it. ( Ice-cream)
  2. I am yellow. I am made from milk. You eat me with bread. (Butter)
  3. What is white and has a chick inside (An egg)
  4. Clean, but not water. White but not snow. Sweet but not honey. What is it? (Milk)
  5. It has wings, but it can’t fly without legs it moves. Do you know why? ( A fish)
  6. It is very tasty, red and sweet. And it’s so good to eat. (An apple)
  1. The next our task is to learn one beautiful poem, which is connected with our theme.

One, two, one, two, three!

Tea, tea, is there any tea?

Four, five, four, five, six!

Chips, chips, are there any chips?

Seven, eight, seven, eight, nine!

Wine, wine, is there any wine?

Boys, girls, women and men!

Nine, ten, start again!

When do we use some, any ?

We use some in affirmative sentences

We use any in questions and negative sentences

For example:

  1. There is some ice-cream in the fridge
  2. We don’t need any eggs.
  1. Writing

Fill in the gaps with some or any

  1. Have you got ----- biscuits?
  2. You need ------ apples and onions for that recipe.
  3. Give me ------- potatoes, but I don’t want ------ carrots.
  4. Have you got ------ information about a trip to China?
  5. There is ------ ham on the plate.
  6. We haven’t got ------ milk. We can’t make an omelette.
  7. Bob always likes ------- sugar in this coffee.
  8. Are there ------ new buildings in tour street?
  9. They didn’t sell ------ tickets for the school concert.
  10. There is ------- salt.
  11. I haven’t got ------ money.
