                                     What is Literature?

Literature is a form of art that uses words to express ideas, feelings, and stories. It includes novels, poems, plays, and short stories. People read literature for many reasons: to learn something new, to feel emotions, or simply to enjoy a good story.

Literature has been part of human life for thousands of years. The first stories were passed from generation to generation by word of mouth. Later, they were written down. Today, literature is available in many formats – books, e-books, and even audiobooks.

There are many famous writers around the world. For example, William Shakespeare from England wrote plays and poems in the 16th century. His works like Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet are still popular today. Another famous author is J.K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter series, which many young people love.

Literature also helps us understand different cultures and people. When we read a story from another country, we learn about their traditions, problems, and values. Reading books makes us more open-minded and helps us think in new ways.

Teachers often include literature in school because it helps students improve their language skills. Reading also improves imagination and teaches us important life lessons.

So, literature is not just about reading; it’s about understanding the world and ourselves.
