Type of the lesson:  combined lesson

The procedure of the lesson

I. Greeting. Organizing

II. Warmer up activity

The teacher divides the class into two groups and offers the words "Season" for the first one and "Weather" for the second one to work with. The students in turn should say their associations to the given words in the following order: noun-adjective-adverb- verb repeating the sequence until the last student in the group says a word. Each correct word is given a point. The group, which gets more points, wins.

Today we are going to speak about weather in our country and in Great Britain.

Match the sentences to the thermometers

Talk about the pictures as in the example

Write a short paragraph about different seasons in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s territory lies in the temperate belt. In general the country’s climate is temperately continental, being subtropical only on the southern coast of the Crimea. The average yearly temperature in Ukraine varies between +5.5…+7 C in the north and +11…+13 C in the south. The coldest month of the year is January with a record low of –42 C. The warmest month is July with a record high of 40 C. Precipitation (rain, snow and other forms of moisture) ranges from about 76 cm a year in the north to about 23 cm in the south. The highest rainfall is in the Carpathian and Crimean Mountains. On the southern coast of the Crimea the climate is subtropical Mediterranean.
