Subtopic: Let’s Go to the UK. Вирушаємо у подорож до Великої Британії. Робота з лексикою та текстом.

Objectives: 1) to practice new vocabulary;

           2) to give students new information on the topic;

           4) to develop listening, reading and speaking skills;

           6) to enrich their outlook;

          7) to teach students to listen carefully, to work  individually and in groups, to help each other.

Equipment:   tickets; cards “A Wordsquare”, cards with the words for the game “Find a Pair” and for the game “Make up questions”; the map of the UK, textbooks “Dive into English” (V. Burenko, form 8); computer presentation “Let’s Go to the UK”, video “Baby Shark”.

    PROCEDURE

І  INTRODUCTION

 1. GREETING 

T: Good morning, everyone. It’s nice to see you. Look out through the window. Do you like today’s weather? Why?

2. WARMING-UP            

2.1 Phonetic drill “Weather” (sounds [w, ð])

2.2 The aim of the lesson

T: Dear students, imagine that you’re lucky to have a chance to make a journey to Britain. Would you like to go there?

During the lesson we’ll

• remind the words and information which we learned in the 5^th and 7^th forms;
• get to know some new facts about the UK;
• learn some new English words;
• develop our listening, reading and speaking skills;
• practice working individually, in pairs and groups and helping each other.
