Тема: «Роль англійської мови в сучасному світі»

 Цілі уроку:

  Практичні:

- навчити студентів правильно вживати вивчену лексику, давати відповіді на питання, висловлювати власні думки та судження;

- вчити розуміти іноземну мову при перегляді відеофільму;

- контролювати мовні навички та вміння учнів, рівень засвоєння ними даної теми.

 Розвиваючі:

- розвивати вміння застосовувати вивчені лексичні одиниці та граматичні правила в конкретній обстановці;

- розвивати здогадку та вміння швидко орієнтуватися в умовах непідготовленого монологічного мовлення;

- розвинути   навички   мовлення   на   рівні,   достатньому  для   здійснення
іншомовного спілкування в 4-х видах мовленнєвої діяльності: аудіювання, читання, говоріння та написання.

 Виховні:

-виховувати культуру спілкування, прийнятої в сучасному цивілізованому світі, почуття поваги до оточуючих;

• розуміти важливість володіння іноземною мовою і потреби користуватися нею, як засобом спілкування;

- прищеплювати цікавість до культури, історії, традицій інших країн.

Роль англійської мови в сучасному світі

Хід уроку

І. Початок уроку :

1.              Організаційна частина заняття:

• Good morning students! Nice to meet you again and I am sure you’re all in good mood. First of all let’s check your presence. Who is absent today?

2.              Оголошення теми та мети заняття.

- At the previous lesson we began to speak with you about the role of English in our life. Today  we’ll continue to do it. We’ll watch the film “Tales from America” and find out why it’s important to learn English, how to do it, what problems in learning English you may have and how to cope with them.

3.               Повторення вивченого матеріалу.

- At first, I’d like to see how much you know about the USA. You have some sentences. Read and guess if they are true or false.

Activity 1.   Визначте, чи правильні твердження:

1.               America is the largest country in the world.
2.               New York is the capital city of the USA.
3.               New York was originally called New Amsterdam.
4.               The USA celebrates its independence from Britain on 4^th July every year.
5.               The American flag has 15 stripes.
6.               There are 50 states in the USA.
7.               Thomas Jefferson is the third President of the USA.
8.               There are 50 members in the US Senate.
9.               The oldest institution of higher education in the USA is Harvard University.
10.          The fiftieth state to join the United States was Alaska.

4.               Перевірка домашнього завдання:

- New York is called now the Big Apple. Why? (Студенти розповідають різні версії походження назви “Big Apple”. Найкраща із версій, на думку студентів, оцінюється найвищим балом.

- Today about 1,5 billion people speak English. In what countries is it official or one of the official languages? (Студенти дають відповіді). In the introduction of the film it’s mentioned that Eglish is not the official language in the USA. May be, you didn’t know it. It is a dominant language in this country. 82% of people who live in America consider it their native language but there’s no official language on the federal level. It’s official in 27 states but in other states Spanish, French, Hawain are official languages.

-Now your task is to watch the first part of the film and to fill in the gaps in the table.

(Студенти переглядають першу частину фільму і заповнюють таблицю про людей, які приїхали до Нью Йорку вивчати англійську мову):

1. Why do learners visiting New York think studying English is important?
2. What problems do people have when learning English?
3. How does being in New York help with these problems?
4. What tips do learners visiting New York have for other learners of English?

Activity 5. Позначте ті відповіді зі списку, які почуєте у відео. При цьому два речення зайві:

1. English is useful when speaking with tourists.
2. Computer software programs are in English.
3. English is important when travelling around the world.
4. English is useful for communicating with people from international companies.
5. An English exam certificate is necessary to graduate from universities in many different countries.
6. It is important to have certification in English to prove that you know English.

Activity 6. Впишіть імена респондентів, які висловили у фільмі дані твердження:

1. ……………………..says that it can be difficult to find the right expressions when speaking.

3. …………………….says that he/she found listening and speaking a bit hard.

Activity 7. Виправіть помилки у реченнях:

1. You can improve your vocabulary and grammar outside class and hear different accents.
2. You can listen to songs in English.
3. You can speak a lot with other students and hear a lot when you go outside, for example into the street or into a shop.
4. You overcome the fear of not speaking English fluently.
5. You gain confidence and stop worrying about getting a job.

Activity 8. Розставте речення по порядку:

1. If you can’t travel abroad, take English seriously: practise for at least 2 hours every day or do an intensive course.
2. Go to a country where English is the native language because you start thinking in that language.
3. Watch television.
4. Go to a city where everyone speaks English because you have to speak English to connect with people.
5. Talk a lot with native speakers, even if you make mistakes.
6. Practise more: speaking, accents. Get a government grant to travel, if you can.

Activity 9.  Дискусія в малих групах:

1. Have you ever studied English in an English-speaking country?
2. How long would you need to stay in an English-speaking country to learn to speak English fluently?
3. Do you agree with Adrian when he says that, if you can’t study abroad, it is necessary to take English seriously and practice for one or two hours every day?
4. Which is more useful for you: American English or British English? Why? Which do you find easier to understand? Why do you think this is?
5. Some of the interviewees recommend watching TV in English – in what ways can this help students to master the English language?
6. What can you do to conquer your fears and gain confidence when speaking English?
7. What other questions do you think the film should have asked?
8.  What did you find the most interesting or surprising about the video?
9. If you could go abroad to study, would you choose to go to America? Why/not?
10.  If you want to learn English, is it better to study in an English-speaking country or simply to get a job there, for example, in a bar or in a shop?

Activity 10. Рольова гра:

-Imagine that you are making a film like “Tales from America”. Interview your partner, using the questions in Activity 6. Work in pairs.(Студенти працюють в парі: один – режисер, інший – герой фільму, який відповідає на запропоновані питання):

1. Would you consider going abroad to learn English? What are the advantages and disadvantages of learning English in an English-speaking country?
2. Why is learning English important for you?
3. What problems do you have learning English?
4. How would living in an English-speaking country, like America, help with these problems?
5. What tips and advice can you offer to other learners who are thinking of studying English abroad?

Висновки та рекомендації

для використання іншими викладачами та студентами

    Матеріал відкритого заняття з теми «Роль англійської мови в сучасному світі» може сприяти поглибленому вивченню країнознавчого матеріалу, застосовуватись в усному та письмовому мовленні.

    Використані на занятті відеоматеріали надають наочне уявлення про життя, традиції, мовні реалії американців, формують уміння сприймати на слух інформацію під час перегляду. Виконання запропонованих вправ сприяє закріпленню навичок аудіювання, читання з повним розумінням, формуванню різностороннього мислення студентів, монологічного та діалогічного мовлення. Різноманітні вправи дозволяють закріпити вивчений лексичний та граматичний матеріал.

     Бесіда та рольова гра, використані на занятті, спонукають студентів до активної комунікативної діяльності, надають можливість висловлювати власні думки та судження.

    Дана методична розробка  розрахована для роботи зі студентами під час аудиторної роботи.
