Aims: to improve students’ speaking skills/reading skills/ listening skills;

to practise using the right grammar  (Passive Voice);

 to facilitate students’ linguistic self-awareness and interpersonal communicative skills;

to develop critical thinking;

to plant  love for the native land with help of the Shevchenko’s poems;

to form students’ skills in discussing and group working skills.

Procedure

Good morning children! Glad to see you! Who is on duty today? Who is absent? What day is it today? What date is it today?

(Pupils greet the teacher and answer  the teacher’s questions)

Our epigraph is the part of the Volodymyr Sosiura’s  poem:

Любіть Україну у сні й наяву,
Вишневу свою Україну,
Красу її, вічно живу і нову,
І мову її солов'їну.

Today we will have very  interesting lesson, because we will continue to speak about Ukraine using  Taras Shevchenko’s poems. He really loved Ukraine and he depicted his feeling in his poems. Also we will practise the using of the Passive Voice.

(Read  the following parts of the famous  poems  and find the sentences in Present Perfect Tense, constructions  with Passive Voice and Conditional I.   Let’s  try to translate these poems into Ukrainian  and guess the Ukrainian poems and the author. What does the author express in these poems?)

I love so much you’ve never seen(Present Perfect)

I have such love, that’s never been(Present Perfect)

Oh native land, Ukraine poor

If just I could I’d give you soul.

The man of note well knows
The crowd's acclaim is not for him,
But for that thorny fame
He wrought with labour and with tears
So they'd be entertained. (Future Ind.in-the PastPassive Voice)
But then, when young folk gather 'round,
So fine they are and fair
You'd think it's heaven, - ah, but look:
See evil stirring there ...

Don't envy anyone my friend,

Teacher: The most painful social dramas, the ache of destroyed life, minutes of disappointment,  the voice of  broken human dignity and the force of noncompliance which sometimes pass into the cry of damnation are depicted in “Kobzar”.  Such brave expressions appears because of the biggest Shevchenko’s feeling. It is his love to his motherland.
