PROCEDURE
І. Introduction into the foreign atmosphere
1. Greeting. Warm up
Teacher: Good morning, pupils!
Pupils: Good morning, teacher!
1. Greet the pupils as they arrive and settle down: “Come in, please. Sit down, please.” Nice to see you. How are you doing today?
2. Introduction to the topic of the lesson. Aim
Teacher: Today we’ll speak about seasons. We will tell each other about our favourite weather conditions and activities. We will learn some new words. And also we’ll study to read and write.
- OK. Let’s start our lesson.
3. Warming up
Pupils answer the questions (Ex.1, p.106.) and additional questions the teacher asks.
ІІ. The main part
1. Checking on homework
Pupils read short paragraph about seasons in Ukraine (Ex.7, p.105.)
2. Vocabulary practice. Dictation
T: Let’s talk more about the weather. There are different kinds of weather. Look at the pictures. What’s the weather like in picture1?
Ps: It’s snowy. It is rainy. It is foggy, etc. Then they write a dictation.
3. Physical relaxation
Children, let's have a rest and make some exercises. (the children are in the ranks opposite one another, repeating the words and movements after the teacher).
In the summer it is hot,
In the winter it is not,
In the spring there are showers,
In the autumn there are showers.
One day, the seasons had an argument. Each one of them said, “I am the best!” Spring said, “I am when flowers bloom and it is green and fresh everywhere. Birds fly and insects have fun with new flowers.”
Summer said, “Yes, but I am when the sun shines brightly and it feels too hot to do anything. People eat ice-cream, enjoy cold drinks and eat yummy watermelon.”
Autumn said, “I am when trees shed their leaves and cover the earth in orange brilliance. The air feels cool.”
Winter said, “I am when people wear woolen clothes, caps and gloves to keep their bodies warm. They get to drink hot chocolate. Birds fly south for the winter because it’s too cold.”
Monsoon said, “I am when the rains wash away all the dust and refresh all the trees and plants. The peacocks dance when it rains. People enjoy the greenery after the rains.”
Since they couldn’t decide who was best, they agreed that they were all important because one could not do without the other.
The teacher can use some phrases of Ex. 2, p.106.
Use flashcards to tell the children about when each season comes according to the months of the year.
5. Physical relaxation

6. Pair work
Pupils describe and guess the seasons in pairs. Ex.3, p.106.
7.1) Pre Reading Activity Pupils answer the questions.
2) Reading Pupils read the letter. Ex.5, p.107.
3) Post Reading Activity Pupils discuss if Dan has answered all the questions from his penfriend.
ІІІ.ENDING THE LESSON
1.Homework Ex.6, p.107. Write a letter about winter holidays in Ukraine Ex.6, p.107.
2. Say, “Close your books, please”. Goodbye. Bye-bye song
