                                          Unit 1

                                      On Screen

 

       Everybody has at home a TV

        Because people like interesting programs to see.

        Sport, cartoons, soap operas, comedies,

        Films, quiz show, the news, documentaries.

 

        Some of them are boring and sad.

        Other programs are simply bad.

        Most of them are very exciting,

        But horror films are very frightening.

 

        Cartoons for children are always funny,

        Especially about their favourite character bunny.

        Historical films are serious and dramatic,

        Science fiction films are certainly fantastic.

 

        The news and documentaries are interesting always

        And people watch them usually all days.

        A quiz show is an intellectual game

        And sport programs have also their fame.

 

        Our cinemas are popular too

        With thrillers, horror and action films new.

        Different characters famous film stars create,

        A lot of popular films nowadays are made.

 

                                        Unit 2

                          Outdoor Survival

 

         Everybody wants to have a rest

        After work or in summer for the best.

        To have much time for bowling and caving,

        And feel yourself not tired but relaxing.

 

        Summer gives us excellent chance for cycling,

        Building, fishing, cooking, boating and climbing.

        It helps us to feel pleased, excited, healthy and strong,

       And to survive in nature all day long.

 

       People spend their holidays in different ways.

       Some people explore countries far away.

       Some of them feel bored, sleeping and putting up the tents,

       Others can be nervous and embarrassed in hotels.

 

       Some are jealous on camping and cycling to go

       And they feel surprised more about the nature to get to know.

       Young people prefer to go hiking,

       They try to do mountain biking.

 

        Everyone can make his or her own choice.

        Somebody can hear the waves of the sea noise.

        Awesome swim in the sea and get a sunburn

        And a lot of interesting things learn.

 

        

         It depends upon our mood

         How to survive and spend our time good.

         If you to God sincerely pray

         Then everything will be OK.

 

 

                                            Unit 3

                            Historical Events

                        Travelling

 

 

Travelling is the best way

To explore countries far away.

The best way to study geography,

To discover new things and take the photography.

 

People often their homes leave

To visit interesting places and lots of emotions give.

They take off, fly, land and arrive,

Then they sail, ride a bike and drive.

 

But journey can be different any way

And different disasters can stop your way.

It may be tornado, tsunami, drought or an earthquake,

Flood, famine, landslide, fire and a hurricane.

 

It’s also dangerous volcanic eruption,

It brings everywhere the great destruction.

You must always very careful be,

But be ready for journey and any way agree.

 

 

 

                             Unit 4

                                             Tales From the Past

                          People Are Different

 

          No one in the world looks exactly alike

           People are different and different things like.

           Different in temper, language, appearance,

           In culture, dreams, tastes and experience.

 

           Different people around the world

           Read, speak and different stories tell.

           Different persons are everywhere

          And different clothes they wear.

 

          Everybody has got a particular trait

          That he inherited and special him made.

          Some people have in common a lot

          Like music, books, films and sport.

 

          Some are kind, cheerful, loyal and great,

          Wise, funny, friendly, caring and brave.

           Others are lazy, cruel, stubborn and unfaithful,

           Shy, selfish, boastful and unhelpful.

 

           In the past kings and queens ruled greatly.

           And were leading their people ahead safely.

           They were moving, pulling, pushing and falling,

           But they were standing, lifting and ahead following.

 

 

                                                  Unit 5

                              Personal Possessions

 

 

             Money is the important thing.

             To everybody it can pleasure bring.

             You are happy something new to buy,

              Especially using a job of part-time.

 

              You need to pay for everything in your life.

               You need earn, save and spend it at any strife.

               You can win money, borrow it and lend.

               You can swap money and to somebody it send.

                Everybody has got favourite things

                And always new ones home brings.

                It’s a skateboard, a bike, a scooter,

                A pet, a Walkman, a watch or a computer.

 

                 Computer equipment are very important nowadays.

                 People need for using different ways.

                 We need a memory card, a flash drive and a desktop

                  As well as a keyboard, a mouse, a webcam or a laptop.

 

                  We can’t use a computer without a screen

                   Because of none of files can be seen.

                  You need a printer to have some useful information,

                  You also need a scanner to develop your imagination.

 

 

                                              Unit 6

                                       Good Citizens

                           Health Problems and First Aid

 

 

  Sue:   Doctor! Doctor! Help me, please

  I’ve got too bad teeth.

  I can’t eat and I can’t drink

And even badly I sing.

 

Dentist: Brush your teeth in time you need

  Rather cold and hot don’t drink

  Less hard food and sweet to eat

  Dentist office often visit.

 

Sue:  Doctor! Doctor! I need your help

  Today I really feel sick and unwell.

  I’ve got cold, cough and a terrible headache,

  A sore throat, stomach, back and earache.

 

Doctor: Let me your temperature check,

  Feel your pulse and examine your back.

  Let me look at your tongue,

  Listen to your heart and lungs.

 

                    

Oh, I see, you’ve got the flu.

Stay in bed and all things do

That I’ll prescribe just now to you

And you’ll recover soon, little Sue.

 

Sue:              Doctor! Doctor! Help me, please.

                     I’ve got a cut, an insect bite and some sneeze.

Doctor:         Don’t worry! I’ll help you at any way.

                     Believe me! Everything will be OK!

 

 

                                            Unit 6

                                        Professions

 

                      There are a lot of professions

                      In which we can find much satisfaction.

                      All of them we greatly need

                      Because of their importance indeed.

 

                       Somebody wants an actor to be

                       To perform on the stage and public see.

                        Somebody wants a nurse or a surgeon to be,

                        Treat and help people, you and me.

                         If you’ve got a sick pet,

                         You can show it to the vet.

                          If you need to fix your tap,

                          A plumber is going to give you help.

 

                          If you want to build new relationships in a new house,

                          A nice architect is going to create your spouse.

                          If you want to go to the sea and have a good rest,

                          The lifeguards will be for you the best.

 

                           What do you want to be?

                           Do your parents with your choice agree?

                           Perhaps you want to be a mechanic, an electrician or an engineer,

                           To design new projects there and here.

 

                           I want a teacher to become,

                           To teach the children to school in time come.

                           Much love and knowledge them to give

                           And teach the main thing – how to live!

 

 

                                              Unit 7

                                                    Music

 

                            So much music in a week we hear

                            And every time we feel it quite near.

                            You may hear music from records and tapes

                            As well as on the radios and TV sets.

 

                       Music is a language you should know,

                       To express your feelings you can show

                       Using a lot of musical instruments to play

                       And try to do it in a different way.

 

                      With a violin, a trumpet, an electric and acoustic guitar,

                      With a saxophone, drums, a piano, a flute, keyboards and harmonica.

                      To learn to be a good listener is the art

                      And to do it is never late to start.

 

 

                                                              Unit 7

                                                    Plan the Future

 

                    Everybody has got his own future plans

                       That won’t create him lots of bans.

                       When people are certainly in agony born,

                       The life gives them a lot of thorns.

 

                        They start school and then it leave,

                         To go to university they also need.

                         Everybody wants to have a good profession,

                         To train to be a good specialist and have in the job satisfaction.

 

                         Then it’s time your home and parents leave

                         To get married, children have and work you need.

                         If you get a good job, a new house you will buy.

                          If you move to it, you’ll learn to drive.

 

 

                                                      Unit 8

                                         Our World

                                            Animals

 

                           How many different animals you can see,

                           Especially in the Mediterranean sea.

                           Sharks, whales, dolphins and turtles

                           And they often have for life battles.

 

                            At the rainforest let’s have a look.

                            Some animals living here are in the Red Book.

                            Elephants, leopards, tigers, orang-utans are usually sad

                            As well as pandas, rhinoceros, snakes of human’s behavior bad.

 

                            Animals don’t often live only in the zoo.

                            There are orphanages for animals too.

                             The keepers look after them very well

                             But animals want to have a wild dwell.

 

                             We’ve polluted a lot of rivers, lakes and seas.

                             We’ve cut down thousands of trees.

                             With cars and factories we’ve polluted the air.

                             Now we’ve got serious health problems every year.

 

                              Millions of fish, animals and plants are killed.

                             The oceans with rubbish from the cities are filled.

                             We must protect endangered animals from danger.

                              We must take great care of environment and nature.

 

 

                                                          Unit 8

                                              Our Environment

 

                             Our environment is polluted very hard,

                             But we need to use its resources very smart.

                             We must reuse and recycle our waste

                             And give them into special bins and place.

 

                             We must sort the garbage learn,

                              Bags, wool, bottles, metal, plastic, cans.

                              Paper, cardboard, carton and glass,

                              Aluminium, boxes and lots of jars.

 

                               We must still search different ways of solution.

                               We must stop our nature’s pollution.

 

 

                                                     Unit 9

                                             Places to Visit

 

                            There are different places in your city to go

                            And everybody must them well know.

                            Aquarium, museums, castles, cathedrals, a fishing port,

                           Monuments, statues, town square, safari or water park of any sort.

 

                            Every place to visit we need.

                            In cafes and restaurants we can eat.

                            In the parks and campsite we can have a rest.

                            In the shops and markets we can do shopping the best.

 

                            At the library we can borrow a book to read.

                            At the museum or art gallery we can also meet.

                            So, all places are important and needful for us

                            Because they give for our life some fuss.

 

                                                        Unit 9

                                                   Having Fun

                                           Playing Games

 

                           Everybody likes playing different games

                           And doing it with great flame.

                           There are a lot of outside and board games.

                           You can’t guess! They’ve got lots of names.

 

                            Nobody wants to lose or give up,

                            To miss a turn, to cheat but in a right way pieces set up.

                             Everybody tries to land and move a counter nice,

                             Count well, beat the opponent and roll the dice.

 

                             Playing games – it’s great fun!

                             Let’s go to the park! Let’s run!
