Мета: закріпити знання учнів про традиції святкування Хеллоуіна; вдосконалювати навички усного продукування та усної взаємодії; розвивати логічне мислення; тренувати уміння дітей працювати у команді; виховувати інтерес до культурних традиції країни, мова якої вивчається.

Обладнання: флеш-картки, папір та фломастери, фотоапарат, маски, аудіо-колонка, кольорові палички, роздавальний матеріал для гри “Bingo”, розрізна азбука для гри “Wonder Field”.

ХІД ЗАХОДУ

Introduction

T. Trick-or-Treat, dear children and colleagues! I am happy to see you! Let me start …(The teacher has a black bag, she is treating all in the class with some surprises). So, our lesson is about… Who can guess? There are some hints in the class room (The pupils are making suggestions).

T. Yes, you are right! Today we will speak about “Halloween”.

Warming up

T. Before we start our event, let me do a little brainstorming with you. First of all we will divide into teams. Please, boys and girls pull a stick (The pupils choose the coloured sticks). So, we have a “green” team and a “red” one. Please, choose captains of your teams.

T. Kids, you have a text where you should find out all the words connected with our topic “Day of Halloween”. Write down the words on the papers. It will take you 3 minutes. The leader of each team will present the information to the class. (Children start to work and then present their worksheets).

T. Now my friends, divide into teams one more time (The pupils are dividing into teams with a help of rhyme-count “Little witches”). Choose the leader of your team.

T. So, I am giving you handouts with Bingo chart. Your task is to listen to me and hide a word in the square either horizontally or vertically in order to make a row.

T. I want to offer you one more activity. I think it will be interesting for you. Let’s play “Wonder Field” game. Do you know the rules? (The teacher explains the rules). So, I will read you the meanings of some topic words and each team have a chance to guess a word letter by letter or the whole word at once. I consider it is clear….So, let’s begin!

Explanations of the topic words:

Ghost – a dead man which is believed to appear in front of a person.

Skeleton – a frame of bone, containing the body of an animal or a person.

Witch – a woman who has magic powers, a black cloak and pointed hat and flies on a broomstick.

Mummy – a body of a human wrapping in bandages, there are lots of them in Egypt.

Monster – a large, big and scary human or creature.

Bat – a small animal like a mouse with wings that flies at night.

Spider – a small creature with eight thin legs that catches insects in a web.

Black cat – a pet animal, has fur, sometimes catches mice.

Pumpkin – a large, round vegetable with orange flesh.

Cauldron – a large, round saucepan for cooking in, usually put over a fire.

Broomstick – a thing with sticks to clean a room.

Haunted house – a scary and mystic building, where bats, spiders and ghosts live.

T. Very good, kids. Nice job. Thank you. Give me a few minutes to count your points (The teacher is counting points and announcing the results).

T. I want to say THANK YOU one more time. All of you showed good knowledge. Hope, you liked every kind of activity (The pupils express their impressions, the teacher gives little “trick-or-treat” candies). And finishing this extracurricular event, let’s put on the masks and do some pictures to remember this “Day of Halloween”!
