Мета: ознайомити учнів із символікою свята, зі звичаями країни, мова якої вивчається; розвивати соціокультурну компетенцію учнів з використанням матеріалу, пов'язаного з історією, святами та традиціями Великобританії; розвивати мовленнєві навички та логічне мислення дітей; створити сприятливу атмосферу для заохочення дітей до вивчення іноземної мови.

Обладнання та матеріали: плакати, листівки, роздатковий матеріал з завданнями для лепбуків, мультимедійна дошка.

 

 Procedure

Teacher: Dear children and guests! Today we celebrate one of the warmest and pleasant holidays of the year – St Valentine’s Day! Have you ever heard who this person was and why this holiday is called to honor him? I invite you to know some interesting facts about Valentine and to understand the origin of this holiday! So, let us start!

Pupil 1: День Святого Валентина - найніжніший, найромантичніший і найщасливіший день для всіх закоханих. День, наповнений сердечками, цукерками, листівками, трояндами і словами кохання. Це день виявлення почуттів та зізнань День, коли навіть най нерішучіший може сказати: «КОХАЮ», “I LOVE YOU”.

Pupil 2: Ось уже 120 років це свято є одним з найулюбленіших на Заході й у нашій країні. Його святкують дорослі й діти, сім'ями й у колі друзів. А прийшло воно до нас із Франції, де святий Валентин є покровителем святих.

Pupil 3: St. Valentine's Day is very popular in England. St. Valentine is the patron saint of lovers. On 14 February, young men and women declare their feelings for each other.

Pupil 4: Today we are celebrating this holiday. It is interesting to know how this holiday came into being. St. Valentine's Day has roots in several different legends.

Pupil 1: Legend 1.

I’d like to tell you a legend about this holiday.

When the Roman Emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a low against marriage. Claudius believed that single young men made better soldiers and marriage would make man want to stay at home. “The real man must be the real soldier, he mustn’t be at the woman’s skirt,” says Caesar. “He must go to the wars and noth­ing must connect him with his home. I forbid my war­riors to marry.”

A kind priest, Valentine by name, saw the love of young couples, so he married them secretly against the law. But Valentine was sentenced to death.

Pupil 2: Давня легенда каже, що священик Валентин порушив указ римського імператора Клавдія ІІ, який забороняв одружуватися солдатам. “Справжній чоловік- це справжній солдат. Ніщо не повинно його відволікати від арміі»- говорив Цезар. Бачачи любов молодих людей, священик таємно вінчав їх. Непокірного священика Валентина видали, і він був засуджений до смерті.

Pupil 3: Legend 2.

 Another legend says that Saint Valentine was a good friend of children. He was a Christian. He would not worship the Roman goods. That’s why he was put into prison. While he was there the children that he had befriended missed him and brought him loving notes.

Even in prison Valentine Showed his love for everyone.

His jailer had a young daughter who was blind. And Valentine performed a miracle. He cured  the jailer’s daughter of her blindness. Just before his death on February 14, he sent a farewell letter “ From your Valentine”. And this day named the St.Valentine’s   Day”.

Pupil 4: Інша легенда каже, що святий Валентин був другом дітей. Він був християнином і не поклонявся римським богам. За це його посадили в тюрму. У той час, коли Валентин перебував у тюрмі, діти, яким він допомагав, сумували за ним. Вони приносили записи, в яких висловлювали свою любов. І навіть у тюрмі Валентин показав свою любов до кожного . У тюремного наглядача була молода дочка. Вона була сліпою. Валентин зробив диво. Він вилікував її від сліпоти, якраз  перед своєю смертю,14 лютого. Того дня Валентин надіслав їй прощального листа « Від Валентина». І цей день назвали Днем Святого Валентина. LET”S watch a video about Valentine

День святого Валентина в різних країнах світу святкують по-різному.

Britain: with the help of drawing straws.

У Британії вибирають пари жеребкуванням. На листівки записували ім'я Дівчини, їх поміщали у скриньку й потенційні женихи вибирали свою долю.

Pupil 2: England: to give presents and cards.

В Англії вручаються подарунки Й вітальні листівки. 13 Лютого ввечері подарунки клали під двері, дзвонили і стрімголов бігли.

Pupil 3: Japan: congratulations of this holiday are only for men.

А в Японії це свято суто чоловіче. Вітають тільки чоловіків. Вважають, що коли підлегла не привітає начальника зі святом, завтра вона буде звільнена.

Pupil 4: У Фінляндії 14 лютого відзначають День дружби.

Finland : February 14 is all about celebrating friendship, and people exchange presents and cards with the greeting ‘Happy Friends Day’

Pupil 1: У Словенії День закоханих – це день початку роботи на полях у новому році. Вважається, в цей день рослини оживають.

In Slovenia, where St Valentine is one of the patron saints of spring, February 14 marks the first day of working in the fields for the New Year. It’s believed that this is the day that plants start to regenerate. Let’s watch a video of celebrating this holiday in different countries.

Pupil 2: There are some emblems of St Valentine’s Day.

Квітковою емблемою свята святого Валентина є Червона троянда. Стверджують, що початок цієї традиції поклав Людовик XVI, який подарував у цей день Марії Антуанетті червоні троянди.

 Pupil 3: За легендою, вони з'явилися завдяки Афродиті, богині кохання та краси. Поспішаючи до свого коханого, вона наступила на кущ білих троянд, уколола ногу шипами, і її божа кров пофарбувала їх у червоний колір.

Pupil 4: RED ROSE. The rose was the flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love. Red is a color that stands for strong feelings. This is why the red rose is a flower of love.

Pupil 1: HEART. A long time ago, people believed that all the emotions were found in the heart. In later years, they thought only the emotion of love was connected with the heart. The heart is still a symbol of love, and it is also a symbol of Valentine's Day.

Серце – теж символ свята. В давнину вважали, що емоціі зявляються саме в серці.

Pupil 2: RIBBONS. Ribbons go back to the days when ladies gave ribbons to their favorite knights when they went to war.

Стрічки витоки мають з часів лицарства, коли жінки дарували цей символ своїм фаворитам в знак прихильності.

Pupil 3: LACE. Lace comes from a Latin word, it means "to catch". Lace was supposed to catch the heart of a loved one. Hundreds of years ago, women carried lace handkerchiefs. If a woman dropped her handkerchief, a man nearby might pick it up and return it to her. Sometimes she might drop her lace handkerchief on purpose to encourage romance. Soon people thought of romance when they thought of lace. They began using paper lace to decorate chocolate boxes and Valentines cards.

Мереживо вважалося інструментом кохання в привабленні людини, яка сподобалась. В давні часи Дами носили з собою хустинки, часто їх впускали. Це був знак романтичності.

Pupil 4: GLOVES. Years ago, when a man proposed marriage to a woman, he "asked for her hand". The hand became a symbol of marriage and love. Soon gloves also became a symbol of love.

Перчатки: коли чоловік робив пропозицію, він просив руки жінки. Рука, а пізніше і перчатка, стала символом шлюбу і кохання,

Pupil 1: RINGS. In some countries, men and women exchange rings when they become engaged or marry. Valentine's Day is a popular day for giving an engagement ring.

Обручки, як символ, означали заручини. День Валентина популярне свято саме для освідчення.

Pupil 2: DOVES. Doves  remain with the same mates all their lives. The males and females both care for their babies. These birds are symbols of loyalty and love. They are also symbols of Valentine's Day.

Голуби- це символ кохання, їхня пара- одна на все життя.

 Pupil 3: CUPID. Cupid is a son of Venus, goddess of love. He could cause people to fall in love by piercing them with one of his magic arrows.

 Купідон – це син Венери, богині кохання. Він міг влучити в будь-кого стрілою, закохуючи пару.
