Communication today is a necessary component of human life and society. The channels through which information is transmitted are called mass media or media.

The term "media" literally means "intermediary", referring to the function of the link between the recipient of information and its sender

In the XXI century, man is surrounded on all sides by screens, messages, posters, games,images.

Every day when we turn on the TV,read the news, look at the new graffiti on the wall of the house, listen to the radio, receive text messages and phone calls, go throughpast outdoor advertising, get acquainted with labels on goods, etc.,we find ourselves at the center of the information flow

{5 C22544 A-7 EE6-4342-B048-85 BDC9 FD1 C3 A}The first manuscript periodical, the Senate Minutes, was invented in ancient Rome in the first century. B. C. Julius Caesar was the first of the rulers of that time to realize the need to disseminate in society important information about public life.

In addition to handwritten newspapers in ancient Rome, there were special information walls - "albums": they were whitewashed with lime and divided into rectangles. The texts were written in charcoal and purple. The albums combined various information – from commercial to political; part of the wall was occupied by private announcements and anecdotes.  

The first printed paper newspaper appeared in China in 911, in Beijing, under the title "Capital Herald" ("King Pao"). It contained imperial decrees, trade news, philosophical and religious statements, as well as information that influenced public consciousness.

The first mention in Russia of the manuscript periodical "Vesti-Kuranty" dates back to 1600. These were leaflets containing trade information. The publication was prepared in several copies, as its readership was small - the king and his closest advisers.

The first mass Russian newspaper was published on January 2, 1703 by decree of Peter I "Letters be!"

In 1862 the banker KV Trubnikov created the first telegraph bureau (with his newspaper "Exchange Information"). And the Moscow businessman Metzel in 1878 opened "office of announcements" – the first in Russia advertising agency.

"Traditional" media: folk song music art, holiday traditions, folk art, myths, epics, fairy tales, legends, etc.

"Modern" media or mass media developed in the first half of the XX century and are associated with electrification, electronics. These include the mass media (newspapers, magazines, books), mass static images (billboards and leaflets), moving images (cinema and television, websites, computer programs with a visual interface), radio broadcasts or similar means.
