Writing Point: The introductory paragraph of an essay consists of general statements and a thesis statement. Some sentences that will attract the readers attention and interest are usually general statements . A thesis statement is the most important element. It consists of 2 parts: the topic (the subject of the essay) and the controlling idea (what is the paragraph about).
Read and find the thesis statement. Then separate the topic from the controlling idea. Do you remember what your family wanted you to be when your grow up? I remember my aunt Cecily. She wanted me to become a sportsman and play football. I don’t even use lifts. Choosing a career should be a person’s own decisions.
Everybody has different ways to success. Write a paragraph to your school newspaper about a teenager who has managed to become successful in his/her life - describing his/her job or profession , - what made him/her take steps to change a life completely, - why is/was this person famous , - how does this person influence other people , - what does this person’s life make you think about
