Welcome to London!

Buckingham Palace is theLondon home of the royal family, where tourists come from all over the world to watch the Changing of the Guard. Every day a new guard of thirty guardsmen marches to thePalace and takes the place of the old guard.

The Tower of London is one ofthe oldest buildings in London. It was built more than nine hundreds years ago to guard the bridge that led into the city. Many kings lived there until the seventeenth century, when it became a prison. Beefeaters guard the Tower and guide visitors. Their clothes are those of royal guards of the year 1500.

In Westminster there is the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Inside the Houses of Parliament, are the House of Commons with six hundred and fifty Members of Parliament, and the House of Lords.Above the Houses of Parliament there is most famous clock in the world, with its huge bell, Big Ben.

Trafalgar square was built to remember the battle of Trafalgar, which was fought by Lord Nelson. Here you can visit London's biggest art museum, the National Gallery or simply feed the pigeons.

In the centre is St Paul's Cathedral. It was built the hundred years ago by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666. It was started in 1675 and took 35 years to build. And in 1984 it was here that Prince Charles and Princess Diana were married.
