Golden Gate Golden Gate – the monument of defensive architecture of Kyiv Rus built by the prince Yaroslav the Wise in 1037. The gates are a tower with a wide passage and a church on the top. In the old times, church was supposed to show every traveler that Kyiv was a Christian city. In 1240, the gates were seriously damaged during attacks and siege of Batu Khan`s army. Though the Golden Gate had been partially ruined, it served as the city entrance until the XVIII century. In 1832, the first measures on the gate`s reconstruction were taken. In 1982, the Golden gate was fully reconstructed on the occasion of Kyiv`s 1500th anniversary. In 2000s, the building was reconstructed again. The construction works were completed in 2007. Nowadays, tourists can go inside the building to visit the museum with an exposition dedicated to the history and arhictecture of the Golden Gate.

Olesko Castle. Olesko Castle is an outstanding architectural and historic monument from the 13th - 18th centuries, once a strong fortress of Old Rus in the 14th century. Later in the 15th - 16th century Olesko Castle was turned into a palace for aristocracy and remodeled in the Italian Renaissance style in the 1620s. The famous Polish king Jan III Sobieski was born there in 1629. The king often lived in Olesko Castle and collected numerous art works. Afterwards the castle belonged to the Rzewuski family. After restoration in 1965-1975 Olesko Castle became a museum. Hundreds of unique paintings, sculptures and applied arts can be seen in the museum. Among them are icons, portraits, still-lives, the monumental picture of the Battle of Vienna, old furniture and wooden sculptures. A nice park with some modern sculptures surrounds Olesko Castle.

Synevyr Lake Synevyr is the largest and one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Carpathian Mountains. It is also called “Sea Eye” or “Pearl of the Carpathians”. It is located in Mizhhiria Raion, Zakarpattia Oblast, not far from the village of Synevyr Poliana. In 2008, the lake was recognized as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Ukraine. The lake attracts tourists with crystal clear waters and unique landscapes. There is beautiful legend that the picturesque blue lake was formed from the tears of the count’s daughter Syn, on the place where her father had killed her beloved – a shepherd Vir. Now only two wooden statues of lovers remind about that story.
