2 The use of solar and wind energy contributes to increasing the share of inexhaustible energy sources to meet the energy needs of the world. But also solar energy and wind power have advantages and disadvantages.

3 Let's start with advantages of solar energy: Reduced dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels. Renewable clean power that is available every day of the year, even cloudy days produce some power. The environmental friendliness of solar energy production is enormous. After all, its extraction is absolutely safe for the environment. All countries of the world have access to solar energy without privileges. Solar energy is constantly renewed, it is inexhaustible, unlike oil, gas or coal reserves.

4 Disadvantages of solar energy: Needs lots of space as efficiency is not 100% yet. No solar power at night so there is a need for a large battery bank. Lower production in the winter months. Some people think they are ugly.

5 Advantages of wind power: Wind energy is inexhaustible. Need a small area and fit into any landscape. Possibility of accommodation in inaccessible places. Generation of electricity by wind power plants is not accompanied by dangerous emissions into the atmosphere.

6 Disadvantages of wind power: Noise pollution. Instability and unregulated wind flow. High cost. The cost of a 1 MW installation is $ 1 million.
