Christmas Day is probably the most exciting day of the year for Ukrainian children. They know that they will get presents, just as they do on their birthdays, but on Christmas Day most of them will also see what their brothers and sisters have received. Children also have the pleasure of giving presents, which is often as satisfying as receiving. This day was a festival long before Christianity because ancient people believed that this was the time when the son of the God started his journey back to earth. It is a custom for Ukrainian people to congratulate each other on the occasion of Christmas, and they wish each other happiness, good luck in everything. On this day many families attend churches to be present at services held there. In short, Christmas is a great day for the celebration of Jesus's birth day (on the 7th of January).
