When Sir Arthur Conan Doyle began writing short stories about a fictional detective named Sherlock Holmes, he had to give him a home. Doyle used the address of 221b Baker Street. Holmes and his sidekick Dr John H Watson, lived here from 1881-1904 according to the stories, and the address became etched in the literary landscape of London. The official museum website claims that 221b Baker Street is the world's most famous address. I don't know if there are studies to back up the claim, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if it were true. For lovers of Conan Doyle's literary detective, this is heaven

The Museum has four stories. The ground floor houses a gift shop. On the second floor is the living room and bedroom of Holmes.

The third floor has rooms for Watson and Mrs Hudson, the landlady and the owner of the house.

On the fourth floor there are wax figures of various characters from the stories. There is also a small loft, which houses the bathroom.

Professor Moriarty, the head of the London underworld and sworn enemy of the detective. Head of the hound of the Baskervilles, the legendary ghost dog, supposedly haunting Baskervilles, from the novel “The Hound of the Baskervilles”.
