Цілі: описувати когось / щось, запитувати про події в минулому часі й відповідати на запитання, удосконалювати компетенції читання, аудіювання й усного монологічного мовлення; уважно стежити за презентованою інформацією, ефективно співпрацювати під час парної роботи; виховувати вміння сконцентруватися, слухати інших, розуміти важливість опанування іноземною мовою й потреби користуватися нею як засобом спілкування.
Обладнання: постер «Лондон», сюжетні та предметні зображення, схеми до правил, роздатковий матеріал, слова теми.

- При посадці на літак виникла проблема. Розгубився наш багаж зі словами. Winnie-the-Pooh каже : Help!!! Look at the blackboard. Make the word-combinations.

6. PRESENTATION WAS, WERE
a) Look and say (p. 88, ex. 1).
- Hello, London. The London Eye. Ось ми і на знаменитому Лондонському оглядовому колесі! Winnie-the-Pooh приніс нам завдання. Що означають слава was і were? Коли вони вживаються? Розподіліть горщики з медом jars with honey до потрібного Winnie-the-Pooh.
- Write the date. Open your books on page 88, ex.1.Доповніть речення потрібними словами was і were. Запишіть два речення, де вживається слово was.
Bill was at school last Monday.
Tom and Eddie were at their grandmother’s last summer.
Bill and Taras were at the camp in summer.
Nick was at home on Sunday.
Linda and her sister were in the mountains on winter holidays.
Roy and Rick were in the park last weekend.
b) Match the pictures.

7. PRACTICE WAS/WERE NOT
Read and compare (p. 89, ex. 2).
Correct the sentences.
- Oops! Something happens. Щось сталось. Міст Тауер The Tower Bridge розвівся, щоб пропустити кораблі і пошкодив наші речення вправи 1, які щойно зробили. Давайте виправимо їх. Let’s correct!
- А складати такі речення дуже просто. Поставте після слів was, were заперечне слово not.

- Let’s take on the bus! Давайте під’їдемо автобусом далі. Лондонські автобуси називаються double-deckers. Ooops! A policeman! Ми не купили квитків! Але він нас пропустить, якщо ми складемо речення про те, де діти не були.

- Рухаємось далі. Ось нас чекає London taxi. Usually London taxis are black. Водій таксі запитує: А чи ви були тут минулого літа? Were you in England last summer?
- Що ви помітили особливого у цьому реченні? Де стоїть слово were? Подивіться на схему та скажіть, як скласти питання про те, де ми були в минулому?
- Складіть питання своїм одноклассникам за таблицею:

10. PRACTICE.
- Охоронець The guard чекає нас із завданням, щоб перевірити як ви засвоїли сьогоднішню тему. Make the sentences.
Optional activities:
"Disappearing cards" Game
Stick five to seven "Activities" flashcards to the board. Repeat the words chorally. Then remove one of the flashcards in the sequence. Pupils chant the whole sequence of six words, including the missing one. Repeat, removing another flashcard. Continue till there are no flashcards on the board and pupils are saying the whole sequence from memory. You can also play the game by writing seven words on the board, then rubbing them out one at a time.
"Miming game"
Mime something you did yesterday, e.g., danced or watched TV. Pupils guess what you did and call out the action in the past tense. Repeat and, if appropriate, encourage some pupils to take turns to come up to you and mime to the rest of the class.
