Мета: розширювати та поглиблювати знання учнів про традиції святкування Різдва в Україні та Великій Британії, тренувати учнів у аудіювання й читанні з метою детального розуміння тексту;
розвивати вміння монологічного й писемного мовлення;
виховувати повагу до культурного життя та інтерес до вивчення традицій України і Великої Британії.
Тип уроку: застосування знань.
Обладнання: картки із завданням для аудіювання, картки із завданням для читання, картки із завданням для письма, ілюстрації “Christmas”.
Procedure
I Introduction
1. Greeting
T.: - Good morning, children. Sit down, please.
We begin our lesson. Are you ready?
2. Aim
T.: Today we will continue talking about Christmas in Great Britain and in Ukraine. We are going to read and listen to the texts and write about your way of celebration.
3. Warming up
T.: Answer my questions.
- Do you like holidays?
- What holidays do you like most of all?
- What presents do you usually give to your friends or relatives?
- What presents do you like to get?
- How do you decorate your house on Christmas?

Christmas in Britain
Every year there is a very big Christmas tree in the centre of London. Londoners put the tree in Trafalgar Square. The shops are very busy at Christmas. People buy presents for their friends and relatives. People decorate their houses. The streets are decorated, too. On Christmas morning people get their presents. In the afternoon people have a big Christmas dinner. They eat turkey, potatoes and green vegetables.

a) Dan: Hi, Orry. I am going to have a Christmas party. Would you like to come?
Orry: Hello, Dan. Great! Thanks for inviting me. When is the party?
Dan: I am going to have it on Saturday at 4 o’clock.
Orry: That’s fine. I’ll come.
b) Dan: Kitty, I would like to invite you to my Christmas party. I hope you will be able to come.
Kitty: Yes, I would like to come. I love parties. When should I come?
Dan: Be here at 4 o’clock.

Text 2 “Surprise”
Orry-beaver wanted to make a surprise for his friends. He sent them invitations. Then Orry brought a Christmas tree to his home. It was very big and nice. The beaver decorated the tree with sweets and biscuits. Orry put presents for Dan, Kitty and Helen at the Christmas tree. Orry-beaver disguised himself as Santa Claus and began to wait for guests.
