OBJECTIVES:

-to revise the vocabulary on the topic;

-to encourage the pupils to talk about their families;

-to improve the pupils’ listening, reading and speaking skills;

-to practice pupils’ writing skills.

EQUIPMENT: tape-recorder, writing cards, the able, “ ACCESS” 1 Work book.

 

PROCEDURE OF THE LESSON

1.WARMING UP.

A. T.”I’m glad to see my darling. How are you? Tell me how your mother is and how your father is.”

The children recite a poem.

How is your mother is?

She is fine, thanks.

How is your father is?

He is fine, thanks.

And how are you ?

I’m fine, too.

Thank you.

B. T. AS you see the topic of our lesson is “ OUR FAMILY” ,that’s why your first task is to make a map “ My family”. Write the words on the board which are connected with the family.

2. CONVERSATION ABOUT THE FAMILY. T. “ I want to know about your families more. That’s why answer my questions, please.” T—P

Is your family small?

What does your father look like?

What is your granny?

Have you got a brother or a sister?

How old is your brother?

What is your mother like?

 

3. VOCABULARY PRACTICE. 3.a T.” Do you like your mother? What words do you know to tell about your mother?” A GAME “ SNOWBALL". T he pupil repeats the previous sentence and adds his(her) own word.

F.E. P.1 –My mum is kind. P.2 - My mum is kind and pretty.

3.b T.”I’M satisfied with your game. And now I want to check how you know the words.” The teacher shows the cards with the words and the children read and translate them.

Dear Frank,

I’m Tony Philips and I’m seventeen years old. I’m a student and I live in Montreal, Canada. I’m tall and slim with short dark hair and brown eyes.

There are seven of us in our family: my grandparents, Steve and Sally, my parents, Joe and Kate, my sister, Liz, aged nine , my brother, Leo, aged six, and of course, me. My father is a dentist. He works at the local hospital. My mother is a teacher in a primary school. We live in a big house about twenty minutes from the city centre.

In my free time, I love playing computer games and listening rock music. I’ m an MTV maniac. My favourite group is Guns’n’Roses. Do you like them? I also like going to the cinema. I go t the cinema every Saturday. I don’t like going to the theatre.

Well, that’s all about me. Write back and tell me about yourself.
